Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has revealed he will interview Malky Mackay for his club's managerial vacancy despite the furore which followed his departure from Cardiff
And now they've actually gone and hired him. In fact, given the speed at which they did so, I get the feeling that Whelan wanted to hire him all along, decided to wait and see what happened with the similar situation at Sheffield United... and then said "sod it" and gave him the job anyway.
10 man Fulham getting a tonking by Watford, could be a few more goals in it, and for anyone watching on Sky, is that really Keith Andrews hair that's on his head
Reading have sacked manager Nigel Adkins after Saturday's 6-1 defeat at Birmingham
Adkins, who took the reins at the Madejski Stadium in March 2013, leaves with the Royals in 16th position in the Championship following the heavy loss against Gary Rowett's men.
The Royals have also confirmed the exits of assistant manager Andy Crosby and first-team coach Dean Wilkins.

Championship has got even tougher now Steve Clarke has gone to Reading. He still seems bitter about the manner of his dismissal at West Brom
Unless Blackpool manage to scrape two goals or more back against Bournemouth (which is never going to happen)! Then it looks like mighty Ipswich will be second for Christmas.
7 points clear of Norwich. What more could you want?
Has a team who started the campaign as one of the favourites ever been as bad as Wigan? Seven months ago we were on the verge of playing in an fa cup and play off final, God forbid we had gone up we would have been slaughtered. So depressing. Thanks to Blackpool for keeping us off the bottom!
Excellent win for Brentford at Cardiff today to leave them in 3rd place in the table. For me, they have been one of the stories of the season and Mark Warburton one of the managers of the season. They are playing some very good football on a relatively small budget and are fully deserving of their current league placing.
Although we only equalised late on, we were probably the better side overall. There is a gap opening up above us in the table though.
We've got Millwall at home on Boxing Day. Norwich always seem to be at home on Boxing Day against a London club. Would appear a very winnable gane and then away to Reading. That might be tricky - they beat us just a few weeks ago and now have a new manager too.
Brentford have definitely been a suprise package this season - although they were impressive in winning League One ast season, they don't have big resources.
Although we beat them early in the season (when we were on fire), they gave us a good game and seem to be a well-run club.

Wonder if Lee Clark has nightmares about Bournemouth
Oct 25, when he was still in charge at Birmingham, they lost 0-8 at home to Bournemouth
Yesterday , now in charge at Blackpool, he lost 1-6 at home to Bournemouth
Don't think this can have happened many times.....
Wolves won League One, but I take your point about Brentford. Lol, I didn't realise about Lee Clark's awful results at home to Bournemouth. That said, Lee Clark did manage Huddersfield when they beat Bournemouth in the League One play off semi finals in 2011

Not surprised to see Brentford up there; they were the best side I've seen at Dean Court this season. Apart from the rampant Cherries, of course!
Loving how Bournemouth are doing at the moment with some great results. Just hope they can continue this into the Premiership and stay at least a few seasons and not just go up and straight down again like many do
It looks like only the Premier League are playing New Years Day and all the other divisions not, so surely the other 18 sides would have preferred the extra two days rest instead of a 48 hour turnaround?

God knows. It doesn't make any sense. You would think that teams would want to arrange their home games for a day when as many fans as possible can get to see them (ie: when they are not working and feeling in a festive mood).
Ipswich Town (amongst others) seem to think otherwise. perhaps that is why Ipswich routinely get far lower home attendances than Norwich even though the two places are of almost equal population size (and Norfolk and Suffolk areof similar size population wise - if anything more people live in Suffolk than Norfolk).

I'd like to see what Norwich's attendance would be like after 13 seasons in the championship and £37 a ticket.

Ipswich are traditionally a bigger club than Norwich as well

they probably just want to smash the place up.

Despite a 6-1 win, still have a -9 goal difference:o

To be fair to him, he was sacked just before the 0-8, so technically he's absolved of any blame for that
Sami Hyypia has resigned from his role as manager of Championship strugglers Brighton & Hove Albion after just six months in charge of the Sussex club
Assistant boss Nathan Jones is expected to be named as caretaker manager of the side.

(He played for their under 21's earlier this week:o)
Lol . And he scored.
8 games unbeaten, 5 wins 3 draws. A play-off charge is still on.
