Over the last two years, the argument that the austerity measures introduced by the Coalition government have not been ‘neutral’ has become a truism – the position has been put forward, through various lenses and numerous examples, that the cuts have been ‘ideological’, targeting the sectors and constituencies which are least invested in by the Tory vision.** As these arguments develop, the difficulty has been in pinpointing how the different austerity measures and deterioration of social provisions negatively interact.* In the case of domestic violence provisions, it has come through a variety of avenues: cuts to police and the criminal justice system, cuts to charities working on domestic violence that are funded by local government and wider cuts that structurally contribute to the rise of domestic violence and deterioration in provisions for those affected by domestic violence, predominantly women and children.
Sounds like some PR hack has decided that Dave needs to court the Christian vote.
I hope it's not a step on the ongoing Americanisation of the country, where politicians seem to have to devote themselves to Christianity to have any hope of winning.
I think David going on about his Christianity might have something to do with trying to win back any Christian voters lost due to supporting gay marriage. It is only a couple of weeks ago we had the first gay marriages, and gay marriages received and are still receiving some press coverage.
Don't forget this is a government with spectacularly bad PR advisors. Often obvious and simple-minded.
But the Conservatives have also completly abandoned a "one nation" attitude and think they can remain in power by simply appealing to those at the extremes.

So now they want the "Christian vote"
As an atheist even I wouldn't fall into describing the UK's Christians as being at the extremes, much less the Church of England who often give the impression that the jumble sales, coffee mornings and other social events are more important than any of that god stuff.
Seriously though, I dont care which side you sit on (I am neither), but this is pretty odd. This stinks of American style faith loving nonsense that was often left alone thankfully in the UK. Why the all of a sudden increase? Lets be honest, its only going to costs more and more votes, not to mention stoke the flames in the religious world as you have non-Christians feeling a little uncomfortable.
Whats up with Dave, is he having a mid life crisis or something?
(To be clear, I am genuinely puzzled by this new religious angle. Blair was a **** wit but he never went down that route, and not coming up to an election. Seems a very odd move to say the least.)

Not even God will save Cameron (and Clegg) from oblivion at the next election. Cameron can believe in God, pray each night, won't make any difference. He will be gone from office next year. God doesn't love (rude word deleted!) politicians. Amen!!!!
What Scandinavian social democracies? Isn't Denmark the only Scandinavian country with a Social Demorcratic prime minister, and she looks likely to be voted out at the next election?

Good point. Essential services are essential, but Dave would rather see them cut.
Not essential enough for this government.
Sounds familiar.....oh yeah...... the Vatican

In that case I trust he's been to church every day since Sunday, given that this is probably the holiest week to Christians.
Or will he just turn up on Sunday, for the happy service, when all the depressing services of this week have been done.
After Ed's Jewish jaunt who will Nick court?

Thatcher used religion in an attempt to bring some moral justification to her dirty deeds, they don’t care how low they stoop.
Cameron’s belief system is based on Thatcherism, which is as far removed from anything Jesus allegedly did as you can get.
If Trading Standards had any authority in Westminster, it would have been closed down long ago.
Cameron's hope is that he's on the road to victory, not Damascus.
Cameron and IDS are complete hypocrites.
Next thing we hear is that Cameron has paid Dot Cotton a retainer to become his personal adviser on the ways of the good book and capitalism.
He needs to lay off the winegums for a week or two.
He isn't a good one
As opposed to the others who told fairytales
Is he really? Or is he just trying to peel off some UKIP votes?
He is in the pockets of the moneylenders and makes the poorest and most vulnerable suffer while enriching himself and his mates.
I don't think Jesus would have been impressed with him!

The Stonehenge summer solstice brigade perhaps?
Having said that they're probably Lib-Dems already.
Romulus
Socialism is the most dangerous fairytale of all.
A fiction group from the star trek universe you mean?
He's already said he is a non-believer. When's Cameron going to arrange the stoning?
