peter just seems to be doing normal restaurant food and saying "this reminds me my my childhood" and thinking that covers the brief i don't understand why he isn't being penalised

Yes - although she's had her problems, I felt sorry for "Rising Star" Emily yesterday.
Having watched this for the last few weeks, it is very apparent that the chef-judge is way out of their depth!
The brief has been good food with a comic relief twist, yet any attempts to inject humour by the contestant-chefs is stomped upon and marked lowly while the 'gastronomic delights' are "bigged up"
Worse than that, by having a different judge every week there is no continuity in the style of judging. One week a dish scores highly, the next week a very similar idea, executed in a very similar way is slated by the next judge.
The concept of GBM is great, but this series has strayed too far from it's original concept and it is danger of becoming boring

These people are in their own little world
i assume he will have about 90 sous chefs all doing one potato at a time?
No idea what it has to do with the brief though
I loved Emily's dish, looked great.
The roast dinner looks nice enough but what's funny about pretty china?
she was obviously a clown
