Confirmed - SD (upscaled to HD resolution) at Belmont.

Maybe something in the HD output chain has fallen over, and they've fallen back to SD? Or perhaps they're preparing for launch on satellite? Seems like a very odd occurrence - I certainly doubt it's a permanent change.

Well if it was permanent they cannot justify keeping this channel SD when they already have LCN133 for SD transmissions, that's 2 HD we've lost this week with the Community channel gone. We need Ch.5, and E4 or Film 4 on these spare channels.

The HQ in Doha is undergoing a major refurb at present, so that may well be a factor

Could be the old knackered 15 year old transmitters our monopoly broadcaster has been installing on new projects

If that were so all the other HD channels on that multiplex would be affected as well and they are not.

He is only 25 and has a lot to learn about the world. We were probably as naive at that age.

Sorry, but isn't it Arqiva who operate and maintain the transmitters, not the broadcasters?

And as the COM7 mux was only allowed on a temporary basis (up to around 2018) then Arqiva are doing the most efficient thing - reusing old kit rather than buying new kit to throw out after a few years. Which is why the COM7/8 muxes were able to be cobbled together in the first instance.

All HD streams of Al Jazeera, including YouTube platform has been in SD for a few days now and been intermittent for the past couple of months. Al Jazeera - while not in HD on Sky also been broadcasting in poorer quality.

Edit: Seems YouTube is now back in HD.
