Actually its an interesting point. What would Donna be doing now? All the other modern companions had a sort of destiny set out for them and as for the Ponds well we know how that ended. But Donna. With all that money...
I was thinking more that if Capaldi did turn up, it would just be a very quick flash of his face or something along those lines. The actually Doctor turning up would just be silly and wouldn't be right for so many reasons.
I don't see why it would be cool?! It blows that big amazing reveal moment. It spoils the costume.
We know the actor is. The costume will be spoiled by months of shooting and publicity shots leading up to the next series anyway. I'm not sure too many people were amazed in "the eleventh hour" when matt smith walked out wearing a bow tie.
IMHO, it would be cool because this is a show about time travel and it is relatively easy to do story involving past doctors because you know who they are. We have already had several of those. (In the 5 doctors the time scoop had the potential to traverse his entire timeline - why did it only target his first 5 incarnations? I can invent time-lord-science excuse here, but that is not my point.) The ability for the show to look into the future also would be a brand new dimension and break the narrative free of some "real world" constraints.

Those are strong feelings.

It would also be a very Moffatty thing to do (what with River Song and all).
Speaking of such things, wouldn't Capaldi be a great Doctor to finally be Merlin?
I few people have suggested Capaldi, and I can see a nice reason why that would be done. If we now include Hurt, Capaldi is Doctor 13, the full bakers dozen.
Whatever thing is eventually invented to get past that limit (the orb of glob), it's a nice way to mark the 50th. To somehow reference all of them, the complete set representing his first full lifespan as a Timelord.
Lets see them all, either as a painting or as statues. And then have Matt look slightly baffled when he finds one of Capaldi and slowly realises what it means.

That would be a nice idea - and a way of getting Capaldi in the story without having Capaldi in the story, if you see what I mean...

I'd actually be surprised if this didn't happen. Just a glimpse of him to get the fans into (even more of) a frenzy.
Hi all,
i haven't read or seen anything on this (i avoid trailer and such), just a crazy thought.
It's the 50th of Doctor Who and during the same week-end, it's the 50th of JFK's assasination. So perhaps his official murderer will make a guest appearance: remember his name Lee Harvey Oswald, as in Clara Oswald.
Perhaps it made you think or perhaps it's meaningless, that's the genius of DW, we don't know.
Enjoy the next 48 hours marathon we're all planning

Those f**kers get where water couldn't.
A Doctor Who and Back To The Future crossover could be kinda fun
^This, I hope. Ian more than Susan really, but I would this to be true.
