SKY+HD Box slow and unresponsive

Box is about 4 years old and is now almost impossible to use.

Usually left on standby overnight and when it decides to go green, then gets stuck on the channel and will not change. BTW remote batteries fine!

On other occasions, a while after it's been stuck, it suddenly catches up with the various input into the remote and works ok by inputting channel numbers, but will get stuck when pressing TV guide.

Tried switching off power for various times and then back on, but did little to alleviate the problem and even did a forced software update with back up (losing all on planner as a result) and it just slipped back into this unresponsive mode.

Need to replace?

Doing a forced software update would not delete everything off your planner, so i would say there is something else wrong.

The older Sky+HD boxes are getting a bit long in the tooth and are struggling to cope with the newer software. However boxes can sometimes become slow for other reasons.

What is your version number and model number at SETTINGS > SYSTEM DETAILS

Have you tried doing a planner rebuild to get your content back

Or if your content is lost, or your willing to, have your conducted a system reset:

A weekly reboot of the box can sometimes help prevent slowdowns, and a periodic planner rebuild is recommended.

Gave up and got a replacement from Gumtree. Not too old and installed, now happy again!

Shall bear in mind the helpful points mentioned
