Palestinians committing "self-genocide"

By forcing women and children to stand near missile launchers, the Palestine terror group is deliberately slaughtering their own by relying on Israeli retaliation strikes. Then they dupe the world with propaganda about "Israel killing innocent civilians." How are people falling for this cynical, murderous spin?

By the same extent is is possible you have put a bit of spin on this as well OP? Both sides of this seem intent to demonise the other... is it helping to resolve the situation or making it worse?

I'm not sure how reporting the facts (that Hamas is using human shields) is 'demonising' them, but, yes of course there are PR campaigns being fought on both sides.

At the end of the day though, Israel doesn't even need to try that hard. As long as Hamas is committed to continuing their war all the key international actors will maintain their support for Israel. That will remain the case until the day the Palestinians give up violence and accept the Jewish state. All other arguments are irrelevant.

Down the years Israel has been in violation of countless breaches of international law and UN resolutions.

Hardly the actions of a state to be supported, is it?

The list of Palestinian dead according to Al Jazeera,

    http://www.aljazeera.com/news/middleeast/2014/07/gaza-under-seige-naming-dead-2014710105846549528.html

    Some analysis on those names:

    http://www.israellycool.com/2014/07/20/analysis-of-gazans-killed-so-far-in-operation-protective-edge/
Over 80% of Gazans killed so far have been male, with almost half of these males being in the 18-28 age group. One can imagine many of these being “combatants.” A further 20% of these males are between 29 and 48, an age group one could envisage may also contain many Hamas members

If you put much store by UN resolutions then probably not. However given the bias shown against Isreal by the UN over the years any authority that organisation had over the situation has long left the building.

There have been over 77 UN resolutions targeting Israel - in the same time frame there has been........ one directed at the Palestinians. The U.N. has repeatedly held "Emergency Special Sessions" focusing solely on Israel. In the last 15 years Emergency Special Sessions have only focused on Israel. No Emergency Special Sessions were convened to examine the genocide in Rwanda, ethnic cleansing in the former Yugoslavia or any other conflicts.

If you listened to the UN the only problem in the world would be Israel...... :(

So you reject the authority of the UN - and, presumably, the flagrant breaches of international law made by Israel.

    OK.

Quite - any organisation that is so overtly biased against a single party loses all claim to any authority over that situation.

But I can perfectly see why you think that are the ultimate arbiter.

So an Israeli minister says that they are committing self genocide and an Israeli source *miraculously* knows the age of the deceased and effectively says they are all hamas fighters

    Why should I believe either?

I would have thought that AJ had more accurate sources in Gaza than anyone else considering Qatars well known support for Hamas.

So? That is the proof that they must be combatants? Or just spin based upon supposition? Honestly, even the site says they "imagine many could be combatants"

Strange the world and media weren't that interested in the kidnap and murder of the two Israeli teenagers that triggered this latest crisis.

My post was in reply to Ethel_Fred who was implying that Israel had made up the ages.

Its not really a point from either side. Its common ground - except for Hamas . The Egyptians have argued the same. Abbas has argued the same. There's even one Hamas leader who has argued the Gaza Palestinians would be better off if Israel occupied the strip and had to feed, heat and power the place,

Its not a contestable argument either. There's pictures of families herding children onto roofs soon after they have recieved a warning that somewhere locally is going to be hit soon.

Its just the logic of the situation. Hamas is losing 6 fighters for every Israeli soldier they have killed so far. The rockets are 98% failures - and half the deaths they have caused have been Bedouins , the raids into Israel were eliminated within minutes. The explosive-laden donkey didn't make its target. Their only weapon left is pictures of civilian casualties and their international supporters, and their only protection is to put civilians in the way.

The problem is Hamas can't surrender, and the PLO, Egypt and Israel won't accept their ceasefire terms and give them a victory.

The available (UN?) figures show two thirds are adult males when these are about 25% of the population. The Israelis claim 110 Hamas fighters killed since the ground war started- plus there's those killed before.in gaza, plus those eliminated in four raids into Israel. Things may change and figures may change, but thats where we are now.
