Given the current discontentment on this forum with TV hosts, comedians, singers and whoever they can get off the street, who would you actually like to see filling in on Radio 2 for the current batch of weekday hosts?

Vanessa Feltz - Richard Allinson / Sara Cox
Chris Evans - I'm quite happy with Zoe Ball or Sara Cox.
Ken Bruce - Zoe Ball, Michael Ball, Jo Whiley
Jeremy Vine - Kirsty Young, Eddie Mair, Fi Glover
Steve Wright - Chris Moyles, Johnnie Walker
Simon Mayo - Mark Goodier, Michael Ball,
Jo Whiley - Steve Lamacq, Lauren Laverne

Has Kirsty Young covered for Jeremy before? I'm surprised the BBC don't utilise her more/ She'd be a brave choice for Have I Got News for You.

    PMSL! :D

I love the idea of sourpuss Helen Worth standing in for Janice Long... Perhaps her character's many on-screen husbands could drop in as guests each night? :D

And Peter Powell doing current affairs - just imagine the cheese factor!

She has actually guest presented the show on a number of occasions over the last few years! :)

A great morning line up and Bob could market it as a Cox and 2 Balls! :D

:-) Put Janice Long on before, then it's Long Cox and 2 Balls!

It's a shame that the late Mike Smith never made it on to radio 2 :(

Having presenters like Judi Spiers, Bruno Brookes and Ed Stewart would just be the same kind of bland presenters Radio Two had 25 years ago. What would be the point of that?

I would like them to use the likes of current employees mainly the weekend crew.
Blackburn, Walker, Harris, Cox, both Balls, Balding, why the need to hire anyone else> oooops forgot poor Richard Allinson.
I have to add I'm not a Sara Cox fan but I did dip into her covering the breakfast show and she really was very good.

I always fail to see the love for Walker on here. Yes, he is a great professional but I have always found his shows a little dull. I doubt he would want to do any other dep work anyway and I think he said as much when Wogan quit anyway.

I can't really see Bob Harris fitting into a daytime slot and Tony is too busy I would imagine.

More of Sara though and I always enjoy Michael Ball filling in for Ken. Just keep the Winklewoman off daytime though please.

I agree. When you listen to recordings of his shows from the 60s and 70s there was a sense of mischief there which just isn't there anymore and i always found his style particularly ill-suited to breakfast.

The first time i heard JW was on his much trumpeted return to Radio 1 in 1987. Stories of a "radio rebel" were touted, DLT gave him a big build up on the Saturday morning. As a young un into Hip Hop and Indie music, I was excited. Then this crappy old jingle was played and a bloke with a Home Counties voice came on and played what i thought were dull album tracks. I had never been so disappointed.
However when he joined R2 i began to appreciate him and his often off beat humour and i thought his chemistry with Sally on Drivetime was great, and he is a fascinating character.
I agree i doubt he wants any cover work. He has a nice life out in Dorset

Are there any other BBC employees anyone would like to see used? Thinking of local shows or 6 Music, for example. I'd quite like to hear Nemone or Shaun Keaveney do some cover for Jo Whiley.

You mean you don't want to see Judi back on Radio 2? Maybe we could get Barbara Sturgeon out of retirement I used to enjoy her show, she would be a great cover for Steve Wright in the afternoon!
