Not sure if it made no 1 but Don Henley's The Boys of Summer
The Power of Love Frankie goes to Hollywood
Heart of Glass Blondie
Run Leona Lewis
Sweet child of Mine Guns and Roses
One U2
Blue Monday New Order
Purple Rain Prince
Kayleigh Marillion
Man in the Mirror Michael Jackson
My favourite tune is actually a Prodigy one, but it's Everybody in the Place. It's one tune that never fails to get at least my head nodding when I hear it. There's just something about it that I can't resist.
Free Money - Patti Smith
Joy in Repetition - Prince
Spooky - Dusty Springfield
And about 1000 more. But they always stick out for me.
Love this. Funnily enough my replacement copy of Horses arrived on vinyl in the post yesterday. One of THE best albums (although does take some time to get into it).
To clarify, you must post your favourite song at the moment. You can come back later and change it though.
Imagine you could only listen to one song for the rest if your life ... What would it be? Or: what has been the most defining song in your life?
Still tough, though. Let's see how it goes:
Most defining song: Pass the Dutchie - Musical Youth (not a current favourite)
One track for the rest of my life: Crown of Thorns/Chloe Dancer - Mother Love Bone (not a current favourite)
Favourite song at the moment: Ravel in the Rain - Black (re-discovered three days ago, but I'll probably go off it soon)
This was my numero uno for years.
In the very early 80s I had been conducting a long distance relationship with an American girl.
I had been at her place in Brooklyn N.Y.C. for three weeks, then I had left JFK one evening, and got the red-eye back to Heathrow.
I crashed out until 3.00 p.m. then then had a shower and a shave and decided to fire up my black cab and go out to get some mad money.
Around 4.45 p.m., as I was heading for the door, the phone rang,.
It was Miss America, she said, "Jean, it's almost noon here, I'm going out for lunch, just listen."
She put the phone next to her stereo, and this was what came down the wire, blew me away.
Just heard that track on ‘The Arrow’ and the seamless transition from vocals to guitar never fails to delight;.... it really is something of a masterpiece.
Off the top of my head I can’t think of another song that’s had that type ‘transition’; there probably has been some but I doubt it has ever been done better.
Comments
Strings + lyrics + Guy Garvey's voice = perfection.
Prefer The Host of Seraphim, that sometimes chokes me up a bit!
Not my favourite song though. As others have said, there are too many. Depends on mood.
Some close contenders:
'Hero' - Enrique Iglesias
'Flying without Wings' - Westlife
' Breakaway' - Kelly Clarkson
'Time after Time' - Cyndi Lauper
'Stronger' - Sugababes
Echo Beach - Martha & the Muffins
Parisienne Walkways - Thin Lizzy
Love Me Again - John Newman
:cool::cool::cool:
OK, absolute favourite - Tim Buckley - 'Once I was'.
I love that song!

Good choice! ;-)
......after buying ‘Killer’ I was hooked and was compelled to buy AC’s previous album; it was only available on US ‘import’ in those days.
Played it endlessly; I really did love it to death.
