You won't be able to use a box from eBay, as they shouldn't be sold there. If you've had your new viewing card then you'll definately not be able to use one from eBay.

I'm not sure if you can keep moving boxes from one room to another, I wouldn't have thought so, but I'm sure someone that knows will be along soon....

This has been covered many times before. I wonder why it is becoming an issue now??!!

The cards and boxes are paired. You cannot use the card from one box in another.

Only boxes subscribed to and with a valid paired card will now work.

You could always look at getting an AV sender or run a coax cable upstairs from the back of the box (depending on which box you have) and watch it in the bedroom that way. You can control it using the remote too.

An AV sender would definitely be the best solution in your situation.

Though if you have wifi in your house that may affect the signal - it basically stopped mine working.

not sure if someone has already answered your question but I have a virgin FREE box which they put in ffor me and I dont pay a subscription on , just receive the freeview channels on it ( reason for this is we bought a tv for the bedroom with built in freeview channels but live in an area with no freeview reception , so the virgin box enables me to watch the other channels ...I have a sky subscription downstairs but didnt want to pay them for multi room )
anyway , when boxing etc is on we can still do a pay per view on the virgin box upstairs if we want to

You are a TV M customer which is free as you say. This is not pertinent to the OP's situation as he is a paying TV customer of Virgin Media and will have to pay for multiroom, like you would have had to have done with Sky.

You could do that. You could get an HDMI splitter.

You could also buy an RF modulator. Scart from V+ VCR socket into modulator then run a coax cable from modulator. You could then get a remote extender and you would be able to change channels in the bedroom.

Sounds a lot but it's not as expensive as it sounds.

If you are not worried about being able to change the channel then you you can get a HDMI to cat5 convertor. You need two network cables installed between where the V+ box is and your bedroom. But these are dead easy/relativily cheap to install, what I did was drill to outside, run the cable next to drainpipe and then back in upstairs. Took around two hours.
