In the next time trailer it looked quite cool.
Looked as if it was something to do with Owen, something from his past.

Who Knows. Time will tell......

Is there a story arc hint in one of the previews for this episode. I can't remember the exact tag line but it was something like:

    [picture of CJ]
    "A man who can't die"

    [picture of the team]
    "and 4 others that can..."

So are they going to kill them off one-by-one as the series progresses? (or do they just want us to think that they will!)

The opening episodes of this sleek new sci-fi got a bit carried away by their post-watershed status. Now the series can just knuckle down to telling a good story, which is what Helen Raynor provides with Ghost Machine. The titular contraption is an alien device that can open fleeting windows on the past, with terrifying consequences for both Gwen and Owen. The series is proving a shifty creature, switching in a trice from action thriller to horror to domestic drama, but that's a definite plus. And another astonishing turn from Eve Myles as Torchwood novice Gwen underlines her star quality.

Sounds like an updated version of "The Stone Tape"...

Ooh, a Helen Raynor episode - should be good then.

Torchwood discovers a machine that allows them to view the ghosts that walk among us. Using it, prompts Owen to investigate an unsolved crime - one that could change all their futures. When Gwen retrieves an alien object from a fleeing hoodie, she's haunted by a vision of a lonely young boy. As the team tracks down the object's owner, the elusive Bernie Harris, Owen experiences an even more terrifying vision and a long-buried crime resurfaces

That relationship is blatantly not going to last the series.

That's certainly what it looks like for now.

Sems like a good episode so far.

I'm trying hard to like Torchwood, doesn't help that the main character is Capt Jack who I hated in Doctor Who (yeah I know that's an unpopular view, just like me hating David Tennant, but hey, I'm non-conformist :p )

This seems promising though, better than the opening episodes :)

I hated Captain Jack in Doctor Who, but I don't mind him in this. Strange.

So he doesn't sleep and he doesn't die. I'm waiting in episode four for the revelation that he hangs upside down at night.

i'm confused. I thought Capt JAck was meant to be gay?

Odds on that he put something coloured in with the whites, most likely red!

He was meant to be bi-sexual.

This is good so far (apart from the horrific motion blur), might have to give 24 a miss! :o

Im finding this a bore tonight.

Just to slow and dragged out.

I reckon they could've done this in half an hour, but it's a decent plot device. Looks like the first two episodes have been used to go ultra sci-fi, and this is a domestic episode.

That sort of veered into I Know What You Did Last Summer though...

Dammit! I thought it was on at 11 - my EPG must have been confused because of the clocks going back.

never mind, it's on again at 12.20 - phew!

does anyone find the welsh accent annoying?

I find it more annoying that 95 per cent of TV production is based in London, missing out about 50 million people.

Mind you, having spoken to someone who lived in Cardiff for a bit, they reckon the accent is far stronger than you'd normally hear in that part of Wales.

Nope, i find the usual manchester/cockney accents we usually see in bbc drama far more annoying....its refreshing to see other parts of the UK used for drama, Wales is getting a look in, how about Bristol, Newcastle, Scotland and Birmingham next! Would much rather see an hour long high quality drama set in one of those places (just like Torchwood set in Cardiff) than another minute of bloody Eastenders!

Mind you, i am Welsh.... lol ;-)

Does Torchwood have any actual powers such as MI5 or MI6? Or are they a secret orgainisation? Because I find it strange that they can get people to talk without showing them any ID, and cross police lines where a series crime has been commited!

Far better use of the overhead views this week, rather than just the Cardiff Tourist Board shots of the first two episodes.
