C5 tweeting about the Gotham ratings. I guess we'll see more of this in the Viacom era, greater transparency and increased interaction with social media and the press.

    https://twitter.com/Channel5Press/status/521956783406206977

Nothing from their head of press @amyvicks though, but I guess they are happy enough and hopeful this one will stick.

I still watched last night though, there are some programmes I don't mind watching again on UK airdates. I used to be very anti this, but some shows aren't even available on the dreaded Sky (BET or OWN shows).

I'm also sad enough to still buy the shows on dvd,. no wonder I'm broke all the time. :)
Good man. Different if you support the broadcast and/or buy a physical copy. But I expect that mostly doesn't happen.

Disaster for Flopchester, that is way down from its premiere. Itv really needed a returnable drama series from this year, and yet again, the dramas which they need to rate well disappoints for them. Who cares if Cilla gets 6m in the overnights? Its never gonna return and not going to have a big impact on Itvs schedules in years to come. Itv need these 6 parters to rate well, not minor 3 part dramas like Prey and/or Cilla.

I wasn't expecting that bad a drop for Grantchester, although I did find the second episode worse than the first if I'm honest. The first was a pleasant enough way to spend an hour but the second was just dull, it did start making me laugh at the end but I don't think it was intentional. James Norton is a great actor, but feels so out of the place that it's jarring.

I'm guessing Saturday for the Intruders, easily to fit in a 45 minute programme there, or maybe a double bill on Mondays or Tuesdays (would face BBC One drama eventually though.)

I thought that about Norton as well - either miscast or being directed wrong. He was dull in this I thought.

Grantchester hasn't won over the viewers yet and the critics weren't too impressed either.

Maybe The Great Fire should have got the Monday night slot instead? It got a good review on BBC Front Row.

Not sure it's quite "Flopchester" yet.

    More like Crapchester.

Ten Years of Apprentice was a bit disappointing considering the rich seam of material although it had laughs. Not a good rating though, not sure it bodes well for tonight.

Please tell me the awful and irritating Matt Edmondson is not narrating the actual series and just did the best of show?

Breaking: Channel 5 has secured exclusive free-to-air rights to CSI: Cyber and NCIS: New Orleans.

Yes! I'm really pleased about the latter.

I've been questioning the casting since it was announced and nothing has changed now I've seen it, Norton is completely wrong for the role.

Countdown is now at 14:10?! It wasn't long ago it was moved back to 15:10. I presume C4 have renewed it despite the poor ratings and timeslot changes as the current deal is due to expire next month.

That's great news. I assume Sky are showing it too as it says free to air rights.

I think I will stick with Father Brown instead if Grantchester. Seen two good reviews for Great Fire. It might be wasted on Thursday.

C5 has first run rights this time, not Fox or any other pay network. The latter still gets first dibs on NCIS itself, though.

It did not look too good in the trailer I thought but who knows? Is Father Brown coming back?

If Utopia wins, what's the betting C4 will do a u-turn on their decision to cancel?

Ratings were dire but they will want the positive publicity.

Father Brown is back in January with an extended run. 15 episodes this time I believe. Apparently Grantchester turns darker but I don't care. Doesn't work for me.

I was reading the nominations last night and was surprised Broadchurch wasn't nominated.

They are glory hounds. Toast Of London got no help in terms of promotion but as soon as it won an award. Some corporate nob said how great it was. Yeah whatever!

I see. Thanks Dancc. I can see Channel 5 being more aggressive with acquisitions going forward with Viacom money behind them. Good to see not every new US programme end up on Sky.

You do wonder what these people are looking at, Broadchurch/ The Fall/Line Of Duty/Happy Valley for 4 all streets ahead of that IMO.

More X Files than Orphan Black - but no surprise considering one of the producers worked on X Files and Millennium.

It's only 8 episodes as well, so not too difficult to keep up with.

That sounds intriguing. Been looking forward to Intruders as I knew BBC2 were showing it so avoided spoilers.
