What is it with people on internet forums, am i missing something?

It must just be me because in real life I've never known people to think they're oh so superior and high and mighty and have the right to sit and judge others. Maybe that's why it happens on forums. Maybe these are places where people get to say things and let off steam that they don't have the courage to do in real life. Am I right here or have I stumbled through life blind to all this?

And don't get me wrong, I've worked many jobs and met all kinds of people, I've met the teenage mothers, I've worked with the middle aged white guys who need the demeaning office jobs to pay the bills, I've sat with the 30 year old women who still tell themselves I'm just gonna be doing this a few more years before I do the job I really want to do! I've blended in with them all, from the upper class bosses who we all make fun of behind his back because he's a fool and I've worked for the boss who just the same as the rest of us and sits with us during the working day.

But have never have I seen this behaviour in the real world. It's very bitter and negative and me being Scottish of course I'm born bitter and negative but even I try and be cheery and happy. On here it's like every day we need something to moan at. It's the nurse with the big boobies or a fire in some abandoned building but Twitter makes it look like a big deal so we've all got to look at it! Come on.

Yes, you are missing something. It's like when you take a poo at work it's not the same as taking a poo at home. Well the internet forum allows people to take a home poo in the work place if you follow.

What, like saying folks should be named and shamed in the papers just on the basis of one person's word ? Without any actual evidence ?

Yet you post stuff like this, one example:-

    http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showpost.php?p=75273316&postcount=470
Do you know what I think?

I think this forum has a large population of people that don't believe in anything that isn't black and white and in front of them and you WOULD HAVE LOVED to have been that guy handing out the leaflets. He said everything you wish you could have said and her husband put him in his place and by default put all of you in your place.

And now you're all even angry that you are in the minority, same with UFOs and other subjects which studies show most people do believe in. You're angry that nothing will change. You're angry that YOU HAVE NO AUDIO OR VIDEO of evidence of her being fed information via headsets. You can't disprove a thing! That guy was basically your voice and he got pwned in front of his own camera, He didn't know what to do and he represents all of you. That same thing that happened to him would have happened to all of you and I know most of you are British and this is the internet and you get brave behind your keyboards, oh I would do this and I would do that and all that other BS that the rest of the world laughs at the Brits for but lets be honest......you wouldn't know what to do in real life.

You're mad because you're in the minority again and you can scream, and you can get on the floor if you want and bang your fists and kick your feet and bite the carpet and cry all you want but you are in the minority and you always will be and that guy got his just deserts thinking he could make some kind of example trying to film them with his camera. He was looking for an argument and like most people, specially people from the internet, he didn't know what to do in real life when it got a bit too real for him
    .

Cheery and happy? Non-judgemental? Or is it that FM's disagree with you?

You wont see these people in the real world, as many of them are hermits without much of a life. Often the most rude, judgmental and bitter ones, tend to be this way as they are societies rejects. Forever lonely and sad.

And you aren't all high and mighty OP?

In what way is a middle aged 'white guy' working an office job demeaning?

I often wonder what some people on here are like in real life. I wonder if the ruder ones are nice as pie in real life and would never dare to say the kinds of things they write on here :D

I'm sensing you're trying to start an argument though?

It's probably because people tend to be more honest in real life and don't just make shit up to be controversial and edgy.

In real life, I'm sure a person who did do that would be treated to disdain similar to what's sometimes expressed here.

Possibly even worse, to be honest.

At least on here I get a chance to think before I speak :D

You've got some very bizarre views, such as your insistence that most people posting on here are office workers, sitting at a desk wearing a white shirt and aged between 18-35.

I reckon you couldn't be more wrong if you tried.

But I guess you didn't try much anyway.

Then there is only one thing for it, return to the real world and you will no longer have to encounter those bad forum people. Make haste or you will be assimilated.

    You're just a forum persona.

    Not at all.

If anything I find it unusual that people would be something other than themselves online.

I find a 'confrontational' approach has generally served me well on all fronts.

That said, clearly I suppose some meek and mild types find their voice in a place like this but maybe naively I reckon most people on here are very similar to the 'personas' they display online.

It'd be too much effort pretending to be somebody you're not, for a long time, surely?

That boss was a fool. 4 times a year he came through. Once every 3 months to sit and dictate to the rest of us what we should and shouldn't be doing when we are there 5 days a week doing the job, he didn't even work in the same city as us but he's supposed to be running it all? I'm starting to get annoyed just thinking about it.

And anne, you picked a post I made on another thread. I know you did it to try and use it against me, but you couldn't have picked a better post. That thread is full of what I already described as the high and mighty on their high horse. They're there to tell everyone how psychics are fake and this and that and I've seen the religious threads and the same names pop up, it's anti everything and we know best and we all post in groups and our voices will be heard. What her husband did and said, is what happens in real life. That's not aggression or violence. That's real life. But of course the people in that thread got riled up because they are only used to spouting their vicious insults at people online, they've never done it in real life and so the young guy comes along and has a go at it and what happened is what everyone knew would happen and so they all get angry because he's like a real life version of them. He's done what they say behind the keyboards they would like to do and it backfired. Perfect example there anne.

As far as the rest of the comments go. I think in real life many of the big posters on here, the big voices, they're probably very quiet timid people in real life. I'm guessing they go to work, get the head down, work, get lunch, work hard, go for the train/bus, get home, log on here and Facebook and Twitter and that's it.

Then you get other people who go to work, chat, work, socialise at lunch, work, go home, phone friends, socialise, go out at the weekends, basically mingle with society and if they can be bothered they will go online. I think for the first set of people, life must be doom and gloom. No relationships, no kids, everything's revolving around the internet, mixing with the opposite sex occurs online, PMing each other, oh I'll go in this thread and say this and then they say oh ok I'll wait till you reply and then I'll make a post, we'll do this and do that and then i need to iron my white shirt for work lol.

I resent this blatant prejudice against nurses with big boobies. I welcome big boobies with open arms. Some of my best friends are big boobies. Maybe you made the boob?

    Still not judgemental?

Everyone is judgemental to a greater or lesser degree both in real life and online.

Anyone that says they're not is a liar.

Never understood why people get so worked up over an internet forum
You are in total control of what you say and what you read and what you respond to If you find it all getting a bit much then log out and do something else Of all the things to worry about in life what somebody says on a forum is WAY down my list of priorities

Well of course we don't ALL have to do anything. People who are interested in a subject will comment on it, those who aren't, don't.

No idea what your problem is OP, but I 'm not sure you've got the hang of the concept of a 'discussion' forum.
