I've cleaned with water, and carpet cleaner but there is still a smell of egg :o

Will bicarb of soda work??

    Yeah, it should do, leave it down for a while and hoover it up later.

    It sounds like you've already done a clean up - did you pour salt over the mess to make the egg coagulate so it was easier to pick up? If nit - it might be worth doing it now just to ensure you have all the gloopy bits up.

    I'm not sure what I'd do next after bursting into tears but ..................a weak solution of biological soap powder/detergent scrubbed in and left to dry before hoovering up might be my next move. I guess it's pretty obvious to say it but every last bit needs removing asap as even the tiniest amount will stink.

    A really good scrubbing brush and elbow grease is the way to go IMO.

    I didn't think to try salt, I managed to clean it all up anyway.

    Have tried the bicarb, just leaving it to work it's magic.

    It wasn't the baby it was the bloody cat.
