TotalBiscuit is one of the best regarded game commentators, critics and consumer advocates in the industry. Recently, his channel received a copyright infringement strike and video take-down by a game developer who did not like the overview its game received. Wild Games, behaving in an unscrupulous manner, abused YouTube's copyright system resulting in the unwarranted video take-down as covered in this video: http://youtu.be/QfgoDDh4kE0

We the YouTube community stand in solidarity with the independent critics and our small YouTube content creators in saying, "Stop the abuse of copyright infringement claims!" This time around, it happened to TotalBiscuit, who has a large and loud base of supporters who depend on his independent and honest (like it or not) content to make informed game purchases. Due to public outcry as covered through several gaming sites and social network, the illigal copyright claim was withdrawn by Wild Games.

However, everyday smaller YouTube content creators have videos taken down and their channels cancelled due to an easily abused flagging system that "shoots first and asks questions later." The 3-strike system allows media companies to easily take down videos without any proof of infringement. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of effort on behalf of the content creators to reverse such strikes against their account and many have been victims of irreparable damage by having their accounts and livelihood cancelled.

What YouTube needs to do:
1) Retire the 3-strike copyright infringement system immediately.

2) Put in place a "due process" system in which it is required for claims to present "burden of proof" of copyright infringements before any videos are taken down.

3) Protect small YouTube content creators from abuse of large companies.
