I don't have a problem with Beckham winning this award if you go beyond the whole Brand Beckham circus the guy was ALWAYS there for his country when needed and is one of the few I could say always loved pulling on the 3 lions. How many English footballers will play for the top teams in England, Spain and Italy as well?
He also gave up plenty of his time to go canvasing for the Olympics and World Cup he didn't need to but he did anyway. He's also done countless work for charities.
Only criticism I'd have is like other have said he's too young for the award he hasn't even retired from playing yet!
I really really really want Jessica Ennis to win. She's so nice and unassuming though that I bet she hasn't been doing much campaigning or anything, and probably isn't that bothered about winning.

Even as an equestrian person, I don't see why winning one race at the countless attempt should render you Sports Personality of the Year.

I don't dispute that she's pretty, but that warbling is time that they could be showing sports highlights from the year - lets just get on with it!
She gets about the sporting events but easier on the eye than Mary Byrne
