Old enough to remember the days of CB radio?

My brother popped round to see me a few days ago to show off his new car.

I couldn't believe it when I looked inside to see he had a CB radio. I didn't think people still used them. I haven't been on one for about 18 years or so.

Did you use the CB? What was your handle?

Mine was Mini the Minx :D

Any of you ever listen to the ricky gervais podcasts where they talked about CB radio with Karl Pilkington?

I found it funny - don't remember where it is but this is all the best bits of the podcast so it's quite a long stream..

edit: The CB bit is at 1:19:50

I never used to have one, but an old boyfriend of mine did. Many a passionate evening would be spent with him, mid thrust, answering his blummin radio :eek:

I started off as Betty Boop then changed to Vanity. I'm still in touch with friends and ex boyfriends from those days.

I still use CB on occasions. Our off-road groups use them for keeping in touch out in the wilds. We're drifting more towards PMR recently though.

I never had one myself, as I was not old enough to drive in those days. But a lot of my mates used to have them in the cars, although I don't remember their handles. I remember one in particular who had a cb radio and also had a speaker rigged up to the front of his white sierra cosworth. He used to drive round and call 'pull over' through the speaker and people thought it was the coppers. Ahh, those were the days

brings back memories of being sat in the shed using a Harvard Good Buddy' which used to look like it was going to catch light any minute..... I remember my mate whos a ham gave me some technical info on aerials, I ended up with a load of cooper wire attached to bamboo canes tied up in trees, had wicked signal in the area but no TV picture for some reason. youre right.those were the days.

We had one. I never had a handle, I was just known by my first name, but my other half was called Preacher. We used to go "fox hunting". Someone would hide their car somewhere, then sit talking on the radio until someone found you using your signal. Completely stupid, some of the place we used to park, I wouldn't dream of doing it in my car now.
