Haunted House, York

Off to York on Sunday for the day and am really interested in visiting the Haunted House Attraction.

I am going with my mum but don't think she will be interested in going in, so it will just be me :eek:

Do they have escorted tours around the house? Don't fancy wandering around by myself.

How long does it take to look around, don't want my mum to be waiting in the cold for hours for me.

    Wander around at your leisure, or take a tour. More here;

    If you're interested in ghost stories you should go to the York Dungeons (if you haven't already been). I thought it was brilliant.

    I went a few months back, unless you're really into ghosts and have a good imagination I didn't reckon much to it. You walk around with a tape or something playing in the background telling you where to go and stories about the different rooms. Tbf for £5 if you're interested it's worth a look, bit of light entertainment if nothing else. Also stayed at the Golden Fleece Inn which was a real let down and the state of the rooms for the price paid is unbelievable. Lovely food though in the bar if you fancy giving that a visit! Enjoy!

    Always passed it. never been in. TBH it looks quite boring, by the looks of the people on the cameras in the window they are bored too. I'd save your money and go into the York Dungeons - that's great fun!

    I did this last year when in York and enjoyed it, it is more about your imagination and the anticipation of what might happen rather than them doing things to scare you. We didnt have a tour they send you into the first room and then you follow the instructions on the recordings of where to go but they were waiting until they had a small group to send in together. Probably best to go in and find out the rough timings and then leave mum in a cafe to wait. I would also add the others comments and recommend the York Dungeons, they had already scared my partner (he is jumpy though) before we got through the door and you are actually involved in the experience.

    "Top ghost hunter Derek Acorah met a spectre who put him in a strangle hold."

    Says it all really. Save your money OP.

    After the haunted goose go in The House Of Trembling Madness for a beer. It's my fave pub in the world. I'll probably be in their anyway.

    Hi, thanks for the replies.

    Well visited the house yesterday, alone :eek: and I'm really glad I went, was the scariest thing I have ever done.

    Didn't actually see anything or really feel anything but walking around a house which is mainly pitch black is b****y scary, believe me.

    I did get one photo which was a bit strange, but don't know how to upload it.
