why can some people bend their big toes up and some cant?

both my sons and my wife can bend their big toes up but I cant, does anyone know why?

    hehe, I can do this, and also blow bubbles of it as well, although a little gross...:D

    Hallux Rigidus? Sounds like someone is a candidate for a cheilectomy.

    i do this as a relaxing thing lol i also cross my little toes bend them right acorss the other toes like a little strap, people recoil in horror but its like my little toes are made of jelly :p

    I can bend my big toes. However, I can't roll my tongue :( I can wiggle my ears though!
