How is Carolynne a country artist?

Really not getting how she is a "country" singer. Haven't seen this in any of her performances but the judges kept playing it up. Also one of the posts on this page seems to indicate she didn't like country much in the FA days.

Is the country thing a last ditch gimmick seeing as other avenues have failed for her?

I dont think picking a style of music is a gimmick

It actually annoys me when contestants sing different styles every week because a real artist in the charts wouldnt do it. I always think they should just pick something and stick to it, like little mix picked rnb/pop and they have a fanbase that likes that sort of music

Part of me wonders if it was thrust on her. In her brief screentime last year, she didn't seem particularly country. I think they picked up on the twang, and just ran with her being the country singer.
