Doesn't a minimum mean he has to serve that term before being considered for parole?

the *commentator has just said he will serve at least 2.5 years

It wasn't minimum, it was 5 years maximum.

I think he got away with murder. He is lucky he could afford the defence that argued so well for the lesser crime.

    Agree.

In my eyes he is a murderer.

I do hope OP does not appeal. He should just put his head down and get on with it. The Steenkamps need an end to it all.

that's how I'm taking it...I heard the commentator say ""minimum" (and the subtitles came up with that).

    Sky says this:
    1. Culpable homicide - max 5 years imprisonment. 2. Contravention of firearms act - 3 years imprisonment suspended for 5 years.

Asked uncle Arnold #Pistorius if there would be an appeal. He shook his head and said, "No".

I reckon they know if they appeal he'll get an even heavier sentence.

Radio 5 SA correspondent saying that he may only serve 1/6th of his sentence in prison, so may be out in ten months (and in the hospital wing)

Blimey, I thought the UK thing of serving 1/2 of your stated sentence was bad.

Hmm, how come he's not crying now?

Looking at his eyes and demeanour I think he's up to his eyeballs on Valium.

It was a maximum of five years, not a minimum.

I suspect deep down that they know what he did.

It was murder, in conclusion the judge described murder perfectly.

Op is lucky that in a year or two, he will be back outside, living the life of a millionaire.

Well, the Titanium Hulk saw everything that was on that phone, so he'll know what Oscar needed to hide.

It was the amount that was already estimated that would be the minimum that would possibly satisfy the prosecution.

Even if all they believe is his story, him going to prison for it shouldn't be a shock result to them.
