I can't believe it's not a rip off

In my local Asda earlier I spotted ICBINB 25% extra free.

I picked one up to have a look and it was 500g for the price of 400g

Since when have spreads come in 400g tubs?

    The tub says 500g for the price of 400g so the tub is the same but the price is reduced.

    500g = 20p/100g
    1kg = 24.6p/100g

    That doesn't make sense - why would they say '25% extra free' then? I've always known butter and the like to come in packs of multiples of 500g.

    Sounds like a precursor to either a price hike or volume reduction.:rolleyes:

    It was £1 so not bad value I suppose. I didn't like their marketing strategy though so got a 500g tub of Vitalite for £1.20 instead. It's nicer anyway. :p
