In cases like this where it is unclear as to what exactly has happened, the police typically conduct the parents' appeal in a manner that subjects them to a level of not strictly needed stress.

For example when the media ask the parents a question relating to the disappearance, the presiding police officer always turns to look intently at the parent answering the question (usually the man), rather than simply remain looking forward at the audience of journalists.

Just had a look on the East Midlands Today FB page and someone has just posted that an area in Mansfield has been cordoned off and a tent put up.

I'll keep watching and see if anyone else confirms this.

I believe they also have body language experts to watch these appeals as often a family member may be involved.

Apparently she was found in a street just one mile away from her home.

Just been on the Radio news now. Something in the article from the press conference on page one here will surely not be true, unless an accident. Dreadful news again.

Yes I said earlier that on twitter someone had mentioned forensics around the area she lives.

There was a proper press conference on tv today, and yesterday they were talking to journalists in the street.

    This morning or this afternoon?

I wonder how early the police suspected the body was there and we dont know what time they actually found it.

Those poor parents. They'll never forgive themselves for having cross words with her. They only wanted her to clean out a cooler box from their holiday, but she refused and walked out.

    Terrible.

I don't know, but do the police normally go combing over scrub land if they are not expecting to find a body.
