I didn't realise they weren't new as IQ Beats doesn't say new package. It depends how Global want to image the stations sound.
Fair enough.....but it's obvious they want to use that package.......but why only a fraction of it?
It's odd that they'd go from the full package (stings and all).....to playing the bloody news jingle every few minutes.....That's the top of the hour bed.
Why overkill it?

Some of the imaging may fit in well. It depends who's dealing with the whole of the Global imaging. Capital have had loads of new packages over the years, and Heart have had many new packages but had a new package 3 since doing network shows.

I think the package is too big and varied. There does not seem to be any consistency in which jingles they use and when. The station does not have an overall 'sound' anymore.(Apart from that ******* news jingle!!!)
Iain Dale new show is very good. Petrie still very good and putting her on for JO'B before JHB has shown what a huge difference there is between them. JHB unlistenable. The way she asks callers "What do you want to say?" in that nursery school tone is cringey. Ugh. And don't know why she bothers to ask what they want to say when she never really listens, just interjects with her own experiences never lets people talk.
Missing AP though. Seems just so strange that people like Emma Barnett and JHB preferred by LBC while they dispense with great voices and experience like AP?
I dont think AP is a loss to the presenter line up. He makes good contributions as a guest - paper reviews etc - but I dont think he can present. This was made even worse when they paired him up with KevM.
When Emma Barnett replaced The Max she started off with a business and technology themed show, has this now been dropped? I have nothing against her, but she has this annoying habit of summarising everything the caller has just said, before asking us to call in if we agree..... or disagree....!

The way it was used before.....was that some bits were heard on the Nightly News(the stings and short beds)
The overall sound is pompous and orchestral....(i'm ok with that,if that's their aim) but i'm sure whoever makes these id's must be wanting to branch out a little with the current package.....give it a little shake up LBC.;)
The jingle voice guy was added to make it sound strong like a News Radio station not a wimpish voice. I don't think singing jingles will work, but if you listen to the other Global packages they are short stings. As I said it depends who's doing the imaging for Global.

I never mentioned singing at all mate.
And.....no.....it depends on who is in charge of station sound at LBC. Chris Lowery(sp?) used to make them...i don't know if he still does.....if so...he may have been ordered to cut the use OF WHAT THEY WERE ALREADY USING before. by "them upstairs"
I am in misery .... down in Devon, up a wooded valley that might well be described as one of the most beautiful in England but the broadband connection is dreadful and I so want to listen to my radio hero - Clive. Elderly mother doesn't have Sky so listening via the WWW as my phone is useless, no signal. The connection keeps dropping and is constantly buffering - anybody got any ideas how I could improve this. Taken me several minutes to write this!!!
As you'll hear at the end.....how long the news bed has been used.
In a previous post i said the 2008 package was the best......it's very good.....but not as good as the package before that, with Nigel Williams voicing over the top.
It made LBC sound fresh and big.

Enough now.:yawn::sleep::)
Very good - thanks. I didnt realise how long they had been using "London's Biggest Conversation" to stand for LBC.
Edit: while watching that video, I found this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeTKS4otE6o&feature=related
of Douglas Cameron advising Londoners how to save water for a drought! Infact the news doesnt sound very different from todays!
Yes, I was expecting Clive to sound a bit rusty but far from it.
Bit too many guests for my liking though, I prefer to hear callers on the phone.
The show and Clive are sounding really good. The guests are a nice touch- I'd rather that than the presenter waffling to fill in the sometimes long gaps between the calls.

Greg Marston is the current station voice for LBC 97.3. He was also the voiceover from 1996-2002.
I heard a bit of Petrie this afternoon while driving. She sounded ever so cross once again. She really gets on her high horse with some issues and I don't think it's good radio, but rather comes across as a bit petulant.
She was banging on today about nepotism and said she had purposely not asked her father for help to get on in the media, so she could make it on her own merits. She added that, even if she had asked, she thought he might have refused anyway. Yet within minutes, she was calling emailers 'liars' for suggesting that they would not help their off-spring and that 'no parent' would refuse such a request... ho hum.
I also heard the first bit and the last bit of Clive's show. I must admit, I thought there would be more on here about it and I wonder (dare I say it) whether people aren't posting in their droves because it was a bit, well, disappointing.
Don't get me wrong - Clive's a good enough listen at any time and on any topic, but what I heard didn't blow my socks off. I'll have to get the podcast for a proper listen and maybe comment more then.

You could always go for a one off, no subscription cost option of either Freesat from Sky http://www.sky.com/shop/freesat/home/what-can-i-listen/ or the cheaper BBC/ITV Freesat http://www.freesat.co.uk/ but if you go for the latter option you must ensure in advance that the box the retailer supplies has a "Non-Freesat mode" option that allows access to LBC and the installer should be able to demonstrate how to do this for you.
However, I'd suggest trying the various online streaming cheapest options first and go through every single option, however tedious, to see which one can work best with your existing internet connection:

I bow to your superior knowledge but why no mention of internet radios? I have had to replace all my DAB/FM radios at some cost but the upside is I get LBC in an area not covered by the station. If it works where I am I should imagine it would work anywhere. Try a Roberts radio - they are good value and not too expensive.

A very entertaining 3 hours.
Or even worse, constantly interrupting the caller to add a long monologue of his own even though the caller is still trying to speak. If I hear once more that AD doesn't drink, I'll scream until I'm sick. I'm not surprised he doesn't like going out with a crowd, that he prefers one to one interaction, it's probably because he can't take over the conversation when he's out with a group. One of these days he'll give his voice a rest and let the callers finish their sentences, one can live in hope.
I have, yet again, turned off JM as his ill-informed and rabid rantings are really an insult to one's reasoning powers.
He simply refuses to entertain any view but his own. He was talking about the job market, and opining that if you pushed hard enough, the jobs were there. He truely is the mouthpeice of this government, and an unpleasant and didactic one to boot.
Loved the girl who was doing the newspapers and advised him to 'strap on a pair' when opposing big business driving down the amount they pay in taxes.

Occy thinks they're new.....they are not.
Im not sure? Unless there have been some subtle changes, I think they have been there a while.
I've posted this to save you going back a page.:)

I loved the show tonight, the Master returned and as I predicted, he never let us down.
It was brill. As you say, the Master returns.
