Can anyone advise if these charges seem to be right. I've suddenly got not credit so I thought I'd check my usage.

Now as I understand it I'm on the standard data tariff which says:
Browsing the mobile web Just £1 per day for a whopping 100MB and additional £1 per 100MB after that. You'll only pay for the days you browse.

30-Sep-13 19:24:06 195KB Using the Internet £0.00
30-Sep-13 19:12:18 5KB Using the Internet £0.00
30-Sep-13 18:33:59 269KB Using the Internet £0.00
30-Sep-13 18:23:18 38KB Using the Internet £1.00
27-Sep-13 07:14:04 1KB Using the Internet £0.00
27-Sep-13 03:14:03 12KB Using the Internet £1.00
26-Sep-13 21:23:34 1KB Using the Internet £0.00
26-Sep-13 20:52:07 13KB Using the Internet £0.00
26-Sep-13 19:52:07 129KB Using the Internet £0.00
26-Sep-13 19:41:54 5KB Using the Internet £0.00
26-Sep-13 19:01:57 1.33MB Using the Internet £0.00
26-Sep-13 19:01:13 38KB Using the Internet £1.00
22-Sep-13 18:58:37 697KB Using the Internet £0.00
22-Sep-13 18:58:16 38KB Using the Internet £1.00

Have I misunderstood how the charging works?

    That's correct.

You pay £1 every day that you connect to the internet.

So if you connect on the 22nd of Sep you pay £1.
If you connect on the 23rd of Sep you pay £1
    etc...

If for example you use over 100mb in one day you get charged £2.

Ah thanks. Schoolboy error then. I misread that as only being charged if I use 100mb which I gauged to be unthinkable. D'oh.

    :o

All I need to do now is resolve what was using the internet at 3am when I was in bed bearing in mind I thought I had all the data/syncing/whatnot deliberately turned off.

No worries. I thought that's why you were confused. So basically that 100mb for £1 is when you go over 100mb within a day.

Do you have push email turned on? Could be that?

I actually don't know what push email is, so it's possible. I will check that.

    Currently I have

Use packet Data(activate data network) unticked
    Data roaming unticked.

In Accoutns and sync settings I have everything unticked including a gmail and twitter acct.

I believe this is enough to disable any unwanted data traffic but I'll be checking this again by the looks of it.

The data charges above match precisely to when I've been using a Running app. I activate GPS but I've also been ticking packet data to get the embedded google maps. I would say that's almost certainly what has triggered the charges.

Fair to say I don't jog at 3am :D so either there's something else that needs disabling or I left the packet data on that night.

Either way, I've screwed up somewhere.

"Push email" is where the email gets downloaded to the phone immediately it arrives on the server - so the phone is always waiting for it.

I have my email setup (normally) such that it only gets downloaded to the phone when I go into the phone email application.
