  Yes. Before Top Gear first came along in 1978, and up until it's cancellation in 1968 there was
  another motoring show on the BBC called "Wheel Base" which I think ran for about 4 years.

  BBC4 just finished a season repeating a lot of old car programs.

  No, what he means is the show "Wheel Base" was cancelled in 1968, at least that's what I saw when I read it.
