Watching my neice struggle through uni at the moment, 2 young children who I know she would much rather be with. She pays the earth for their care, not to be toilet trained, she finds time, god knows where, to do that herself, but to read to them, to sing to them and generally help with their develpment. Nursery for her or many others is not a dumping ground. It is a position of trust.

What about the partner? is he around? How old was she when she had the kids?

All children develop at different rates and imo in many cases it is not lazy parenting but undiagnosed problems. People shouldn't be so judgemental

My daughter still soiled herself at school at 5. It was a daily nightmare as nobody would listen to us for best part of 3 years. Bowel training programmes, repeated HV intervention, countless paeds appointments, referral to CAMHs etc.. as surely it all had to be psychological right

She had a bowel obstruction and following treatment by a specialist paeds gastroenterologist was cured immediately.

We had exactly the same issue! My poor daughter was on prune juice for a year and the doctor still would not believe there was a medical cause! It was a locum doctor that referred us to a specialist in the end. I still have her poo charts!
