Boots
If Waterstones, Argos or Toys R Us goes, I'm gonna lose it.
Hopefully None of those. I want to work in Retail but i fear i won't be able to because of the Highstreet dying.
The Body Shop - maybe
Boots - very unlikely
body shop no body goes there always empty if that goes bust no real loss
boots could care less anyway it would stop all females going there only to buy beauty products and stop from constant looking in the mirror all the time which is annoying so no real loss anyway
whsmith - a bad loss since i buy all my magazines from that shop but they charge extortion prices for sweets
BHS- closing stores, but part of Arcadia, so not in any overall risk.
Waterstones- owned by Russian billionaire, so unlikely, regardless of their performance
GAME retail- Will get a positive bounce from hmv & Blockbuster news- if this is enough to carry them through to the next gen of consoles later this year, they will be okay, as long as Op capita (their new owners) don't get impatient in the meantime.
Argos- just reported a good Xmas, but likely to reduce their store portfolio as the opportunity arises
The rest- don't know, but can't imagine any are doing that well...
Chips(world), maybe? The one in my home town seems stagnant, even though it's the only specialised games shop here.
BHS are downsizing some of their stores in main locations and refurbishing a lot of others, so I can't imagine them closing for good just yet. Especially when you think of the financial backing that company has
Agreed- but they are taking the opportunity to exit units as it arises. Sensible move IMHO.
There was a McDonalds in Stockton High Street which closed down, but they are a franchise. They will never close down, not even when Morgan Spurlock released his 2004 documentary "Supersize Me".
I've no idea how the body shop has survived the economic downturn so far. I don't know anybody who shops there and the branches I see are always empty.
Everything in there seems very overpriced for what it is.
Who would administrate the administrator...?
No one goes in either in my town.
Boots said trade was so dire, they were thinking of going.
PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young or KPMG.
Like duuur.
Crikey, I've never seen or heard a comment like that from Boots... you must live in a quiet place
If you see their fees, you would know there is no chance of that:)
You need to step away and get a life.
Shell
BP
Wallmart
Do you have a link to that? Boots is not only doing very well, it's part owned by multinational giant Walgreens with enormous pockets.
Boots will still be going after a nuclear war.
Hardly anyone in Home Base in my town I have noticed when I go there twice a year. They all go to B and Q.
Wickes was empty too which was odd and everyone looked bored.
You seem to spend an awful lot of your time doing detailed customer counts are many different stores.
