I had a weird PM on here from doop, most recently, but from others too.

People really don't see to like me, which makes me think I'm doing something right ^_^

Pah, you're alright... You're more popular than Ed Miliband, at least! :D

No one has mentioned Yappy, one of the strangest posters on here. Even created her own forum with crazy chris:D

Anyone read the MSE forums? There used to be a guy called Popperwell who was the biggest whiner evah! Everyone has a hard time at some time in their life but he was epic.

He lived with his Mum (he was in his 50s). She died of cancer. There was much hand holding and sympathy sent his way. Then the proverbial hit the fan. He lived in a council house and wanted to keep it. Three bedrooms for a single man. He got an inheritance from his mother, he wanted to hide it from everyone. His neighbours were out to get him. The government were out to get him.

He posted about what he bought and what he ate. Advice was given, his hand held, and then he'd have another drama.

Finally he left. But there was much breast beating of how people were supposed to be supportive!

He hasn't been seen since and the thread is peaceful.

Was that fishing for sympathy. I can tolerate you, just.

Now go and get some real beer, not that piss water you claim to drink.

If you haven't met the people you encounter online IRL or talked to them on the phone for example, there is little point in worrying about them if they think of you in a negative way.

Why would I fish for sympathy from people who are wrong? :D

I remember reading a thread here about someone who said they had found kittens and it was all a lie.

There were a few of those types all linked to in another thread. One a person was even getting money off DS members :(

The guy who posted on /b/ a few days ago complaining about how difficult it actually is to kill a person by manual strangulation. He then proceeded to brag and post photographs of the woman he'd just strangled.

Doesn't get much crazier than that.

There is a case at the moment of a Canadian radio presenter, Jian Ghomeshi (Iranian by descent, born in UK) who was into strangling women during sex. Claims it was all consensual but was fired by CBC and now it's their big celebrity sex scandal.

I remember the Kaycee Nicole thing blowing up on Metafilter, back in 2001, and there were people still adamant that she was real. That was all kinds of crazy and set the bar really high for internet hoaxes. Then there was the Warrior Eli stuff, more recently, and it just makes me doubt everyone and anyone who posts a sob story online. Oh and I have never forgiven holdkriss99 for faking his own death, what the eff was all that about?

I was a member of probably the biggest "petrolhead" website in the UK, and it appeared to be full of people who claimed to be company directors earning millions, when in fact most were probably sad fantasists who probably worked on the bottom rung of the ladder in IT and still living with their parents. The worst of it was how cliquey it all was, and if you dared to have a different opinion, they usually just resorted to bullying tactics. It was a shame as I still have strong interest in cars, but I found that I usually ended up logging off feeling pissed off so I just decided to call it a day. I still follow the forum on facebook, but at least that way I get relevant news rather than the utter bollocks that usually got written on the forums.

I did have one person on here PM me asking why I didn't like kids, after a comment I made on a thread about not wanting any. "How can you not like kids?" she asked. WTF it has to do with her, I will never fathom out.

But for a real human zoo, you need to log on to Twitter, there are some absolute retards on there. Weirdly though, it is like a car crash, it draws you in and you just can't help yourself reading it sometimes.

The comments on YouTube videos take some beating too. There really are some truly appalling wastes of spunk in the world.

There are a few crazy types on the Eve Online forums, which is why I tend to not go on them much.

Some of the crazies have to be considered trolls more than crazies.

That said, the X factor forum on here brings out some very very strange people. People who have unhealthy obsessions over celebrities. People who get very strange over a tv show.

Outside of that I know someone who has serious problems on a videogame forum I go on. A guy who has become infamous on the UK sub forum on that gaming forum. He has over the 10 years he has been on it, about 30 different alternate accounts. He plays games with them posting in multiple accounts in same threads for example. He also claimed that Jimmy saville christened him.

Saw a post in Showbiz the other day which basically said - i broke my own leg just because Jessie J had to try and meet her .
She then got a story written in the daily mail (yes i know lol ) and had the cheek to complain that it was not a nice story , and more along the lines of , obsessed stalker breaks leg to be like her idol .

Met some right oddballs while looking for love! Although I guess that could have happened anywhere.

To be fair, the worst oddball i've been out with was related to someone i met in real life!

There was a poster on here not too long ago who claimed that three of her friends and family had died on the same day and she had had to identify two bodies. It was a lot more complicated than that, to do with inheritance as well.

A few posters actually believed her for a while.

    I remember that, here's the thread: http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2014719&highlight=

Oh I don't know, I think we're all getting used to the experience that is pinkstar28 ... I feel she's become a sort of General Discussion mascot whose head we all pat :D

Or perhaps the crazy is rubbing off on me :o:p

Definitely dodgy. I just wonder why people start threads on such subjects, is it because they urgently need some metaphorical hand-holding, because no-one in real life gives a shit about them?

Not so much crazy but creepy.

A user on here started speaking to me online pretending to be a 16 year old girl (I was 17 at the time IIRC) and apparently it was a guy in his late thirties who took a photo from a pornographic website to use as his own pic.

Wow, it looks like there are some real odd people out there!

Ive never understood the ones who fake their own death just to see peoples responses when the responses are from people they have never met.

I do agree though that social media sites bring out the worst in people, because they habe the element of reality. On forums people can make stuff up but on facebook its soon found out if someone is lying.

Another story from me, again from the same forum i mentioned in the opening post. Two people met on the forum and started a relationship, they were both late 30s early 40s at the time. The relationship went well and they lived together, holidayed together, socialised together etc. i actually personally knew them both. Then there was an ugly split up and ever since then they argued on the forum like a couple of teenagers throwing insults at each other.

Even funnier was that on facebook they blocked each other but argued through friends. She would put a status about him and within minutes he would reply and vice versa. It really was the most childish thing i had ever seen. They both got new partners but it carried on. She would comment how her new bloke was so much better looking and then he would write how his new woman was better in bed etc. it was so petty it was unreal. Neither of them could see each others pages anymore and i always wonder if it was the same mutual friend who was telling each one what the other was saying!

How strange and how sad. It sounds a bit like Katie Price and Peter Andre, who allegedly loathe each other but spend an awful lot of time talking about each other.
