I was thinking that too as I seem to remember him not being a villain before he left or when he came back in 2007. I guess the idea is that his character got so angry at being rejected by Nick that he turned bad.

Another thing that annoys me is undeclared deaths because the person moved away in the old days for example is Florrie Lindley (took over the shop in episode 1) dead as the actress has been dead for 23 years and if the character is still alive she would be 92 so is most likely dead.
I know they can't account for everyone but I like closure.

I was on the old Coronation Street set last week and the machines outside although they work are not sweets they are toys probably to stop them going off. I spent 20p and bought a toy alien, it was cool.

I "stole" my back stage pass and went to the toilets to hide it... when I got out the group I was with were laughing at me as security had told them they could keep them... >:(
