Or at least that was the view espoused by the setter of yesterday's cryptic crossword, intentional or otherwise...:D

7D: Ban Doctor Who at last (4)

Anyone care to guess the answer? :)

Regards,

Cypher

I had it down as 'veto' - i.e.

VET (Doctor) + O (whO at last) = Ban

    Seemed to fit...:)

I was thinking "ban" with D for Doctor = The Who (eg a band) but now I think you are right. :)

"Veto" Sounds like the correct answer to me

Of course I don't have access to the rest of the crossword grid to verify it :p

Heh, I had _E_O to work with from other answers before I started that one...;)

I reckon' the Telegraph Cryptic setter is a closet Who fan anyway - a few weeks ago, we had this:

24D: Alien had many a coin from Albania (5)

    ...:D

    Cypher

That would be DALEK then. (as a confirmed anorak I knew that the currency in Albania is the LEK ;) )

    Heh, yes:

D (many or 500 in Roman numerals) + A + LEK (coin from Albania) = Alien

Can't wait until they do one for 'Raxacoricofallapatorius'...:)

We'd need a bigger grid for sure...
