It seems to be usually impossible to get rent arrears paid even if the landlord goes back to court. Basically this landlord will have to write off the £12k owed
Who knows.
Looks like CH5 are just adding "On benefits" to all their shows now.

Do you know if it was paid to the tenants and they used it for stuff other than rent?
Or if they just failed to claim it?
|It seems to have been paid to the tenants initially but (I think) after the court order the housing benefit was paid directly to the landlord. Basically the tenants seem to have used it for other thngs

But she was in debt to £45,000 in total, but I think that included a student loan.

shes got no way of every paying it so better to stop throwing good money after bad
£45,000 but that included a student loan, repayments of which would not start until she earned over a certain amount...£22k or thereabouts
I've always said rent should be paid to the land lord. It should be classed as theft if someone spends housing benefit on anything other than rent.
