To be "famous" you have to take into consideration the perceptions of different genres, age groups and generations. Considering most children of 12 upwards know who Madonna is I would say yes. She is still possibly still the most famous female popstar in the world.

Presidents come and go, would you say Clinton or Bush are more famous than Madonna now? If Obama loses the election in November *fingers crossed he doesn't, Madonna will still be around.

You said "Is Madonna still the most famous person in the world?"

I think no. I think Barack Obama is. Of course these things change. But at the moment, which is all we can speak for, I'd say Obama is easily the most famous person on the planet.

I think she's the most famous woman in the world, but I agree that the most famous person is Obama.

Not quite true - Amanda Holden isn't that bad.

And you forgot Katie Price and Kerry Katona

Madonna? Past it - give it up while the going's good. The wrinkles are showing too much now.

    OK I'll bite!!

How do you work that out?

Madonna has just made $150 million dollers from 15 shows on this 2012 tour. Her current tour is infact going to become one of the highest grossing of all time.

    Prospective please folks.

OK. If Madonna has to give up showbiz, so should Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, mick Jagger, Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Diana Ross, Cher, and so on. All these are over 50 and into their 60's and 70's. But if they don't need to quit neither does Madge.

I think you mean perspective, since prospective relates to things in the future.

Madonna's fans say she's difficult and a bitch, so I think it's safe to say she's not well liked.

Amanda Holden isn't that bad - You're right, she is great at presenting Superstar although she can shout down the microphone a bit. The Black Eyed Peas are most famous probably.

She is maybe the most famous female popstar in the world, but definitely not the most famous person in the world.
She may have earnt a huge amount from her latest tour but so what? She left 22,000 waiting for 3 hours in temperatures over 35'C and then never apologised when she eventually turned up, just complained everyone better be having a good time cos she was too hot and ground around some guns and blood. Nice?!

Imho she never was, never mind 'still'.

Mistress of the reinvention undoubtedly but doesn't come close to having the fame and acclaim of artists such as Michael Jackson, Elvis or The Beatles.

I find it strange to consider her as anything other than a successful singer.

I can't stand her but everyone just say 'yes, she is' or we'll be forced to see even more of her desperate publicity stunts - most likely involving body parts which no one needs to see.

Thought I was the only one who thought this..
Michael Jackson, especially, was always more famous than Madonna.

Added to which MJ's fame and acclaim came purely from his own talent.:)
I cannot remember him ever doing stunts purely to be noticed and having to constantly re-invent himself...........unlike this daft old trout who has certainly seen better days.;)
