Her need for approval and love stems from her illness. She's anorexic and they do tend to be childlike in some ways. Kindly people respond to that, much as they would to a young child. You're right - she is little and she is breakable. Some of the posts on here are horrible. Nikki is what she is and cannot help herself. Many people are protective of her because she is vulnerable. We should just enjoy the comic moments she gives us and let the rest go.

They're not comic moments, they're actually rather disturbing - and all the more so the older she gets.

Added to that she also showed a nasty streak this time round in her lying to Jack about his Twitter following and in the way she deliberately goaded Helen by shouting at her that she was a 'bad person'

I love Nikki but have to agree with the OP. It makes you think she does have some sort of disability. I'm so glad she showed she's not as much as a baby as people make out to be when putting Helen in her place .

The way she was crying in the diary room after someone (Danny perhaps) hit her head with a bottle made her seem soo childlike with Bryan comforting her like a parent.

I think Nikki is aware of how she behaves. I cant belive she was an escort!

    :o WOW :o
I am so shocked by your post.

Why have I never picked up on this before?

I get this 100% & can't believe I have never put this together myself!

    Yeah http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-401451/Big-Brothers-Nikki-I-500-hour-vice-girl.html

A member on this forum posted it yesterday saying majority of them are/were escorts.

The majority of people she encounters infantilize her. She now expects it.

Yeah imagine fans in the street!?

That is the problem, she has got treated like this for so long..

They don't at all (well she probably gets some funny reactions on the street from time to time). I've seen her on a night out and she was hardly approached if at all, and was quite happy with little attention.

BB loves her and will use her for as much as they can. They treat her like this and she plays up. They feed that side of her and she loves it. Totally irresponsible of them imo.

Vanessa treated her well in UBB - nice to her and understanding but didn't take her shit and told her when enough was enough. That's what she needs.

If you take Nikki at face value she is a weak lovable HM.
The truth is she is a high maintenance HM, with a huge ego that has had her share of mental health problems and should for her own well being not gone back into BB.

Well she has been rewarded for her behaviour so it's no surprise she's going to continue being the way she's been. Lab rats do it and humans are no different, we are all conditioned one way or the other.

She certainly isn't treated as if she's on a a level playing field with other people, that's for sure.
And it does come across as very patronising to a 33 year old woman.

It's even by the way people speak to her. They really aren't speaking to her as if she's an equal.
She's not treated as an adult with the same level of intelligence other people are. She's treated like a small child and they speak down to her in a way.

These people won't care about her when BB is over and done with and she's a 53 year old woman trying to cope with normal life.

    Well yeah.

She grew up with severe psychological problems and spent most of her childhood in hospital. The spoilt, diva-ish, princess attitude she is famous for (and I love her for) is because people do treat her like she's special, and go out of their way to help her. Anyone on the show or BBOTS who knows her talks about her like she's an adorable, special, breakable little thing. Everyone jumps to her defence and wants to look after her.

No sh*t that's where her personality comes from. Luckily for me, I love it.

You may well love it as a viewer.
But is it good for her in the long term when she isn't being 'viewed'?

She has been indulged far too much in life and has become quite spiteful as a result.

And how can she justify not working!? she is capable of doing some form of work.

On the show, BB not BOTS, she said that she wanted a career, tried to do some work in a call centre, but it didn't work out for her.

As a mother of a child with special needs, I feel that if people equate Nikkis self entitlement to that with someone with real needs....well my child would be horrified, as am I :(

I've noticed the way the other housemates and even Emma/Rylan/Big Brother's voice changes when speaking to her, as if they are speaking to a child as opposed to an intellectual adult conversation you have to dumb it down for her which is incredibly patronising and embarrassing. The best thing for Nikki is to try to get her used to dealing with the real World as she won't be famous forever and I fear for her getting taken advantage of/exploited which would be horrible as I do think she seems a nice caring person at times.

It's like the Victorian age where people marvel at freak shows and it's fine as long as Nikki amuses us.
What happens in 20 years time where all these viewers who are highly amused by Nikki and her funny ways aren't there any more?
The real world is brutal, and she won't be living in this protective BB bubble anymore.

The posts you're describing on here aren't horrible, they're speaking about the way they have observed how some people treat Nikki, not about Nikki herself.

And the 'kindly people' you mention probably aren't doing her any favours if you think that's the correct way to talk to and treat people like Nikki.

What we're talking about didn't appear as evident when she was first on BB7 when she was in her early twenties, but now she's 33 it sort of feels more apparent now.

In a conversation with Marc she told him she wanted a career within science and he said why don't you do it then? and she replied I have not got any GCSEs maybe that could be a starting point for her.

What a horrible thing to say and share with others (dannys comment and not yours). Have a look at his instagram and you'll see what he's really like. I like Danny but I'm starting to like Marc again...atleast he's real about himself.

Or perhaps you just don't share a sense of humour with some of us, or don't have one. The 'tantrum' this series - or panic attack - no, not funny, concering. But her telling Jack about his twitter followers? Very funny. She's teasing and winding him up, come on, lighten up! And her going into the diary room and laughing her head off - well, I always find her very endearing in those moments.

I think some posts on here are a little ignorant of her past while others maybe take her a bit too seriously - there's nothing to get angry about. I think Nikki likes her 'little girl' character. And when I say character I don't mean just in BB I mean in real life too - most people play some kind of character or like to be seen in a certain way. Nikki plays hers and people seem very drawn to her, very protective and fond. With the exception maybe of someone like Helen - no big loss.

Nikki doesn't have a problem being Nikki. Just people like you have the problem who don't take the trouble to understand why is she like she is, read her book! Emma hit the nail on the head when she told Helen that Nikki was exactly the same as she was in BB7 and she is not fake! I support Nikki not because she was on BB7 and the most entertaining but what she has done after to work tiredlessly to raise awareness of anorexia suffers, raise money for charity, became part of a body confidence group called Body Gossip where she gives her time absolutely free!

Agree and I amazed how many people think it's detrimental to her health. She is what she is and as long as she is happy and not hurting anyone I don't see the problem.

She obviously holds her own when necessary and doesn't appear to be struggling in life, so no reason why she won't be just fine

as both someone with anorexia nervosa and the mother of a child with 'special needs' - or with learning disabilities as its now called - everything about the OP horrifies me

She gets treated like a child & gets afforded pseudo 'legend' status off the back of doing so, so she's going to continue doing it.

    Absolutely correct.[/QUOTE

Your misjudgement is monumental but if you are living your life under the maxim 'where ignorance is bliss it would be folly to be wise' there's nothing to be done.

Well she learned French, moved to France for almost a year and got a job working in a gift shop there...so I'd say that was a pretty big leap in regards to self reliance. She only moved back to the UK fully the day before she went into BB.
