Samsung 709

Has anyone got the Samsung 709 DVD player, if so is it worth £160, can it play region 1 DVD's?

I would appreciate any comments on this DVD player,

Thanks

Michael

It's well worth the money. Some of them can play all region discs and disable macrovision depending on the firmware version. Have a look at http://www.709online.com/ for more info.

    The 709 is extraordinary!

I got mine from 'techtronics' for £212, and its worth every penny!

It looks wonderful, the picture & sound are great, and the region hack that came included is flawless!

'Saving Private Ryan' now has pride of place in my collection! :)

Blimey, it's dropped in price since i got mine!!!

Good machine. Once its hacked it plays R1 no probs. Does have some funnies (Matrix mainly as i recall), but as hennenoe says it depends on the firmware installed.
The 709online website has a good database that details particular disc compatability issues (if applicable)

The Matrix had probs on this player (as it did on others) but after a quick call to Samsung they arranged an engineer to come out and update the old firmware for free.

All the new Samsung 709's have the new firmware and don't need updating.
