I love a plain scone with jam and cream - also a rum baba; though the latter seems to have gone out of fashion and is increasingly difficult to find.

A proper meringue: two halves, crispy on the outside, squidgy in the middle and sandwiched together with whipped cream
The only time I can have one is if I make them myself, seems to me all the meringues you can buy are rubbish. Hard and when you bite into them, they're dry in the middle and they just disintegrate. Swizz.

I've thought about this far too much, haven't I? :D

Apple turnovers, chocolate eclairs and vanilla slices. I'll be avoiding them now mostly, as I'm trying to lose a few pounds, lol!

Would Carrot Cake and Cheesecake count?
Or if not I do love a good Vanilla creme crown.

Cream doughnuts, especially if the "skin" on the doughnut is slightly crispy! A real treat!

Black Forest gateau with loads of whipped cream

    Profiteroles

    Strawberry and cream sponge

It has to have loads of real whipped cream - not aerosol, unless made with chargers at home

Back in October last year on an episode of Great British Bake Off Masterclass Paul Hollywood demonstrated how to make them. Im only a very average basic sort of baker but I had a go and they turned out great.
They are a bit of a faff to do and I had to keep refering to the (recorded) episode. Well worth the trouble. I didnt have any real Rum in the house so added Rum flavouring to the sugar syrup to soak them in.

Give it a go but do follow his technique.

One local bakery does a caramel doughnut which consists of a lovely soft bready doughnut with a caramel topping and caramel cream inside which is delicious.

Also another local bakery does Bavarian doughnuts which are like a kind of doughnutty iced bun filled with copious amounts of creme patisserie.

Both are my firm favourites but you do have to get there early because they sell out quickly.

Yes I'm a big fan of the cream doughnut. It is however sometimes difficult to get a real fresh one.

I can't have cream very often it doesn't agree with me, but when I do it's probably a chocolate éclair.

I'd much rather have a pecan & maple twist or a cinnamon swirl.
