This was simply stunning from beginning to end. The TV coverage will never be bettered on any event.
If this doesn't save the BBC nothing will.

Does anybody know if the BBC Olympics DVD out next month has full recordings of the Opening and Closing ceremonies with the option to choose no commentary in the audio options?

Yes to your question re. the OC/CC. Don't know regarding a no commentary option - there will be a director's commentary so it's possible.

The BBC Shop page has details which have been updated several times as more detail is made known. So it might be worth checking every so often.

It's currently listed as a 5 disc DVD/Bluray set with the "all the footage...broadcast by the BBC" of the OC and "eight hours of incredible sporting highlights ......as well as featuring the CC in full."

The question is whether the CC and OC count as part of that 8 hours "of sporting highlights" If not you're looking at 13 hours+ and would push it towards 3 hours per disc which seems a lot for a commercial release. Although IIRC King Kong was 3 hours and one disc so maybe not. Guess we'll see soon enough

I do hope that Channel 4 bring out a DVD/Blu Ray of the Paralympics.

TV license cuts for 4 years, many papers always questioning it's worth. Do you not think it's in danger?
