On ITV1 Thursday at 9pm - a 5 part drama
Lovers of the supernatural will find much to enjoy in Marchlands, a faintly Amityville Horror-ish tale of a haunted house. It's a cleverly constructed story that switches between 1968, 1987 and the present day, as we eavesdrop on three different families who set up home in the huge, rambling Marchlands. All of them, in one way or another, feel the aftershocks of the death of a little girl. The device works surprisingly well as we slowly learn the background to the tragedy, and the guilt and suspicion that dogged the child's mother (Jodie Whittaker) back in 1968. As we move through the years, we see the girl's unquiet spirit become even more restless. The claustrophobia and tension build up very nicely - as does the sense of foreboding. Yes, there are a few cheap thrills (one involving a bath you will see coming from five miles away), but this is still hugely enjoyable, absorbing stuff.

I love ghost dramas I hope its good and Tessa-Peake Jones from "Only Fools & Horses" is in it will be good to see her on TV again :)
