I currently have my pvr3 connected to tv by scart and my dvd recorder connected by component. when the new hd recievers come out will this do away with the need for scart conection or does the hdmi cable only transfer the hd content, still needing a scart conection for standard digital?

you'll only need the hdmi, for the sky box
I haven't heard whats happening with the audio yet.

HDMI carries SD and HD video and the audio as well.
