Maybe it just depends where you live?
I think it does.
I have relatives that live in Wigan, I live in Manchester. I pronounce the word book, "buk". They pronounce it "b-ew-k".
Anyway to answer the OPs question, I pronounce the word advertisement.. "adver-tize-ment".
Maybe I should try pronouncing it the other way ...
I've never heard "tiss" except on English telly.
In Bolton some people can't say year, saying yeeyer instead:D
or
"Adverts":D
Oh I say that too and I am not in Bolton
OT I say ad-ver-tis-ment but not all members of my family say it that way.
Those Bolton folk are funny though - they pronounce 'bus' as 'buzz'. Not as bad as York though where they pronounce 'toad' as 'turd'. :eek:
I remember Fred Dibner saying that he was about to do a dee-mon-ster-ation, or was that demonstration.
Still enjoy watching his programmes.
Oh, Adver-tiss-ments for me too, or Where've I put that remote?.
I'm the same
