What's The Normal Amount To Feel Tipsy on?

Just curious really. :)

I feel the need to introduce myself- despite all the posts I have accumulated I haven't posted in GD too much. Anyway, I'm Claire and I'm 22 years old. Hello to all. :p

I detest getting really drunk personally (no offence to those that like it)! :D I tend to drink enough to make me slightly tipsy but not drunk (guess I'm a bit too sensible).

Now, I drank 4 pints, 2 wickeds and 2 snowballs tonight then I moved onto diet cokes. I felt a tiny bit tipsy but that's it. Is this normal? Do people normally drink more or less till they feel a bit tipsy? Personally I used to be much more of a light weight. I guess that's what makes me curious really! :)

That's quite a bit so I'd say not too bad... Personally, I still feel pretty normal after a bottle of plonk.

Triple tonight's intake, shovel it all down in about a hour then have a few Brandy's 'for the road' seems to be the norm these days. :(

I'm not a wine drinker myself so I couldn't comment on that. I do remember a friend of mine drinking a bottle of wine a month or so ago and having to be escorted home by me though. :p Not something I will ever let her forget. ;)

That's a fair bit to only feel tipsy on!
For me it all depends on if or when I've eaten. If I drink on an empty stomach then after 3 glasses of wine I feel giggly, but if I'm full, I'll probably just want to go to sleep before I can even get to the tipsy stage.
If I do shots though it's another issue, I can have 2 or 3 chasers and I've passed tipsy without even experiencing it!

A sniff of the barmaid's apron, and I'm drunk. Still, cheap night outs are great!

(Except in the DS pub, then I can drink all night long and still be sober!)

I think it also depends on the mood your in, if you have had something to eat, if you're tired, what you are drinking and if you are mixing your drinks.:)

Some nights I can put a huge amount of alcohol away, and never get past the tipsy stage. Other nights 4 pints of shandy will have me on the floor.:o :D

Beer doesn't really ever make me drunk or tipsy no matter how much I drink. Vodka usually does the trick though, I guess I start feeling tipsy after maybe 400 ml but then I get very drunk very quickly after that, it tends to hit me pretty fast once I start feeling it.

    4 vodkas and I'm tipsy.

A woman at work drinks 3 bottles of wine a day; one for lunch, one after work and one when she gets home. She will not accept that she's an alcoholic. Shame really, as she's a nice woman when she's sober.

Yes, I would say that's a problem. Hope she doesn't drive herself home from work?

I depends on many things- how long you have been drinking for (your body's tolerance will naturally increase over time) your height, body weight and sex. what mood you are in when drinking, how much you have to eat, and the company you are keeping- if you are drinking against the clock, then you will get drunk more easily.

A big problem but nobody does anything about it - our management is very poor. Luckily she gets the tube home but we are now starting to see the effects of all the drinking - her skin is so dry and flaky which - I think - is due to liver damage. We've all talked to her though but she won't accept it.

[BoringMode] It very much depends on the person I think and what state thier in to begin with whether they've eaten or not etc. [/BoringMode]

I used to be able to drink a lot then I got ill so not so much anymore. I used to have about 3/4 pints before I started feeling an effect. These days it's about 2 although about a month ago I had a bottle of wine in the house and not an effect I wasnt' happy about that.

I don't like gettting drunk to the point I can't stand up straight although I have done it once or twice. I just hate feeling out of control. I don't see the necessity of being that drunk.

I would have been drunk after drinking what the OP did. And I do drink rather regularly too.

If I drank all that I'd be passed out! :D

I am a bit of a lightweight... particularly if I'm mixing drinks; for me that's a really bad idea so I usually stick to just the one thing - 3 or 4 bottles of coronas or a couple of large glasses of wine is usually enough to get me to the 'tipsy' stage. :o

It all depends on the person tbh... whether you've eaten recently or not... whether you drink regularly or not... etc. There's no hard and fast rules I don't think. Everyone's different. :)
