Unusual Fruit

For a change from my usual apple, pear or banana, I decided to try something more exotic, so today I bought a sharon fruit, a dragon fruit and some passion fruit. I haven't tried them yet.

Does anyone else have any suggestions for others to try (and what do they taste like)? I'm not too keep on sour or bitter flavours.

I bought a dragon fruit once because it looked pretty :D It tasted quite bland I thought though.

I like Kiwi's, I know there are not very unusual but I guess they're not your narnas and apples :D:D

I've got a Mango addiction at the moment so I would recommend that.

Mangoes or grapes are about as exotic as I get :D

I think they taste like licking a bottle of perfume.

Are sharron fruit classed as exotic? Chinese lantern fruit are nice- i think they are called something else in the shops though.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I will try to find the star fruit and ugli somewhere tomorrow (they didn't have these in Sainsbury's yesterday). I have had lychees before, I quite like them.

We had a taste test earlier and my favourite was the sharon fruit, the kids enjoyed the passion fruit.

Pmegranates are beautiful, though I don't think they're considered unusual these days. Mind you, they're out of season just now.

Try a Cherimoya if you get the opportunity. The flesh has a custard-like texture and is delicious - like a mix between a strawberry and a banana. The seeds are poisonous however, so don't eat those!

Not seen them for sale for a while; used to get them from Tesco in Manchester.

it's pretty when you slice it into little star shapes..

Soursap fruit is exotic to me, though they make smoothies out of them here. The most exotic I think I had was in Tahiti, a "Pomme Cythere". I really could not tell you what it was...
