Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show (6 Music/ Radio 2)

Is anyone else a fan of this little gem?

I've recently got into it (whilst waiting for Sara Cox's Sound of the 80s- guilty as charged) and it's introducing me to so much great music. Craig is so passionate and knowledgeable about the music and doesn't resort to nonsense fillers to pass the time.

Just wanted to see if anyone else was a fan of this show?

Don't think I've missed a show since 2009. I've never heard a song I didn't love, but it's Craig's passion for the music that most keeps me listening. It's no good for my finances, with all the album's I 'need' to buy though.

Does Craig finish on 6music at 9pm and then cross to Radio 2 to present on there, or is the Radio 2 show a repeat of one the 6music hours?

That's exactly what he does. 6 Music 6-9pm then Radio 2 from 9pm all live.

If ever there was a need for further cost-cutting, this would be a great show to simulcast across the two stations.

Absolutely love it - found it by mistake on BBC 6 - he has introduced me to some really good music and singers - his style is wonderful. What on earth is he doing on that crap soap!

Guess Corrie pays well, yes it's a great show. Craig is also great when he's covered for Steve and Jo in the past, they need to make more use of him at Radio 2

I'd rather a Tony Blackburn soul and Motown hour, followed by Johnnie Walker what a great Saturday evening that would be

I tend to listen to Steppin' Out on Magic on Saturday evenings but may give this a try.

Does he cross reference the two shows.

Also, is it mainly music or is there a lot of chat, as I switch over from Steppin' Out when the chat and interviews are on.

That's the thing -- he knows his onions and his passion comes through.

I listen from time to time, but it's one of my favourite specialist programmes.

Every week, without fail, he introduces me to a song that migrates over to my iPod and becomes a mainstay.

He's a real gem in an already very impressive Saturday night lineup for Radio 2.
