WOOP! WOOP!

Just seen a trailer for the new series "Coming Soon"

Hope we don't have to wait too long. It is - by far - my favourite...

And the lovely Monica is still with us... :)

A little bit spoilery, doesn't say who goes through but does detail the invention test...

    I am so excited.

Monica and Michel are fab and it is lovely to see promising young talent coming through.

I am afraid my evil side does enjoy some of the early tests too (and Monica's disbelief and horror at some of the antics :D )

I will never forgot her wide eyed amazement at the chef who ripped up a lobster (or something similar) and squeezed its guts everywhere.

Will we have another string of 'Head Chefs' of pubs who have very limited knowledge of what seem to be quite basic cooking techniques? Everyone on the last series seemed to have a very grandiose title.

Full details of next week's four programmes are here:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01jsbgc

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03hd32k

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03hd3pd

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03hd48l

As I read it, the big difference from previous series is that beyond the skills test Monica takes the judging decisions with Michel and Greg is demoted to become 'the diner'.

it was all "i'm an Executive Chef at the local greasy spoon" wasn't it?

shame Gregg can't be demoted to just holding the door open in a non eating/speaking role....

On one hand, I'm delighted Pro Masterchef is back. On the other hand, I can't bear that Gregg Wallace continues to be part of it.

I hear a certain member of the MasterChef family is involved as a contestant, so it's going to be interesting to see if 1) that's true and 2) how they do if it is!

They may be listening to your request - I clicked on the top link shawr posted and expanded the page to get all the show details and noticed this rather appropriately positioned:

    Masterchef page

...if only it was that easy! :D

Thanks addix for spotting that juxtaposition - brilliant!

Details of week 2 programmes now available:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03j44dw
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03j4674
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03j556k
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03j5cyg

I have spotted the other big difference from last year - each week starts with 8 not 10 chefs. That means there is no elimination on the skills test - they all get to cook for Michel. Then 1 from each group of 4 goes leaving 6 (as last year) for the quarter final.

The worst skills test (from the contestants' point of view) looks like Wednesday's. Abalone anyone?

Has anyone here actually eaten or prepared abalone? I have only ever seen it on Masterchef and to be frank it looks 'well dodgy'.

I generally love seafood, but something about some of the juicy stuff that leaks out makes me rather

Shame Gregg can't be demoted to the dole queue

How someone who knows so little about food can judge a professional competition like this I don't know.

The show doesn't need 'a diner' and if it does there are far more knowledgeable and telegenic food critics out there who could do the job just as well.

For this series can we please have just 1 winner

I still can't believe they decided to have joint winners on the last series

He contributes nothing to the show. He's not needed.
