I'd prefer the cash go on Falcao, a defender and a midfielder. I'm honestly not that fussed about Ronaldo he goes missing in a hell of lot of big games

You'd turn your nose up at a 60 goal a season player who never gets "tired"?

We don't need him - we have plenty of killer attack minded midfielders - spend the money on Falcao/ Neymar, a defensive minded midfielder and a world class defender

Why not buy a dedicated forward for cheaper? I'd much rather see the cash invested in areas where we've been caught out a bit, injuries to Cahill/ Terry meant we had to put Luiz back at centre-half.

I'd happily spend 15-20 million on a really great defender freeing up Luiz for midfield.

You can forget Ronaldo, not sure why there is even rumours(just because Jose is coming back?), but fact is Ronaldo wont leave Madrid any time soon, not even for Man Utd.

Rooney is an odd one, i just cant see him playing for us, i think he will stay at Utd personally.

Falcao or Cavani seems much more likely, and i think we will definitely get one of these, i would prefer Falcao but Cavani wouldnt be a bad signing at all.

Fellaini would be a good purchase, strong player who would be able to control the park, Luiz and him would be a great combo.

Another defender would be wise, especially if we want to play Luiz in midfield from now on(remains to be seen).

No, I think you're right, Ronaldo is extremely unlikely to join us or Man Utd.
Falcao is more likely to join Pellegrini at Man City, in my opinion. But there is always the possibility that Man City might do a part exchange deal with Napoli, involving Dzeko plus cash for Cavani. Napoli appear to be interested, so that would leave us open to pursue Falcao..again. I wouldn't discount Rooney entirely, perhaps he does need a fresh start, and if we fail to land the other big names we could do a lot worse.
I agree with you about defenders, but I'm not too worried, Mourinho will be well aware of any shortcomings in that department. I would expect a quality defensive midfielder/holding player to be high on his shopping list. I suppose he will take a good look at the back four and decide if he needs to spend big on an experienced player, or whether there are younger options around for the future.

Wouldn't bet on a new holding midfielder - Mourinho rates Mikel :(

Dont get the hate for Mikel, i think hes ok, not world class but he can certainly do a job. Between him Luiz and Ramires i think we are reasonably covered in midfield but someone else like Fellaini would be good too. Romeu is a forgotten man too, and then theres Lampard.

Still think a top class striker needs to be a priority though.

But surely it's Roman that chooses the players.

Schurrle is pretty much done. Just waiting for the confirmation. The hold up still seems to be where De Bruyne is going to be.

We know Abramovich wants a top striker, and that he's mainly been looking at Falcao and Cavani.

Surely one club can't have them both, so we should have a strong chance at one of them. Both are going to cost around £50m but would be a great addition to the club.

Fellaini has already said he wants Chelsea to come for him, and if he's available at just over £20m it should be an easy decision. He'd be awesome as the holding midfielder in our team.

We do require another Centre back though, so that Luiz can be a midfielder. Someone like Mats Hummels or Neven Subotic would be a good signing for the club.

Ultimately it's Roman's money, and he will be the one, as always, deciding which players to bring to the club.

Sorry, I disagree with you there, I just don't think Mikel is good enough. It's been our weakness for a couple of seasons now.
After Makelele, Essien and Ballack, we just haven't been the same under pressure. For a while, it did look as if Mikel would make the grade, but he hasn't made that step-up.
There were great expectations surrounding Romeu, I suppose he could still make it, but I don't see many other clubs following his progress any more.
Luiz and Ramires are fine to play alongside a holding player, and so is Lampard providing those ageless legs can keep pumping. But I think we need a specialist in the holding position again. People under-estimate just how important Makelele was for us, we are never going to find his like again, but we should try to get close.

I'm sure Fellaini will follow Moyes to United. Everton's defence improved a great deal later in the season when Fellaini moved further back....A trio of him, Luiz and Oscar would be my preference, assuming you-know-who implements his previous system. If he sticks with what we have now, Luiz and Fellaini would still be a big improvement.

I tried to give Mikel a chance this season by focusing on what his fans said where his main strengths.....he's just not good, IMO. Romeu would have convinced a few more people by now if not for his injury. Probably won't get another chance now.

Fellaini to United would be bad news, alongside Carrick that would make them considerably stronger. :(
They also have the choice of Vidic, Jones, Smalling and Evans in the centre of defence, even if we ignore the ageing Ferdinand.
We should still have the edge going forward with the flair of our attacking midfield maestros, but I'd like to see us a bit more solid at the back.

Of course, we don't really know how much Lukaku has come on. With all respect to West Brom, they are a mid-table club at best. He hasn't been playing up front with world class providers. I don't care about age, he might be ready to explode next season, who knows ? If that were the case, we already have our £50m striker under our noses. :)

Mikel is dire. He's never going to come good now so we should just move him on.

According to the Mail, Chelsea are lining up a £25million bid to make Mario Gomez the spearhead of a new-look attack under Jose Mourinho.
I sincerely hope that's the usual rubbish from the DM, we really don't need a Bayern has-been who will soon be their third choice striker. Might as well sign Andy Carroll.

Links with Luiz going to Barca.

Sure its just newspaper talk, but if the Blues do even consider letting Luiz go, it would be a huge mistake and lose them a lot of fan goodwill.

"doing a job" is fine for the Spur/Arsenals of the league but for a team that should be challenging for the title its not good enough. We should aim that every place on the pitch has that places best player (or at least near to the best), Its the same as when people said "Rafa has done his job". We dont want people who do their job, We want people who excel in their job, People who move it up to the next level every single time. Doing your job is ok for midtable teams but to win the league and keep up with the Utds and Cities you need to do more then your job.

If Jose does come i can see Luiz leaving.
He's just too much of a loose cannon for Jose.
I can also see Oscar being moved on as well -Too lightweight for Jose's power style football.

Oscar is in no way lightweight, at just under 6ft - he is 4 inches taller than mata and hazard!

perhaps he will get rid of mata for being lightweight?

Oscar gets knocked off the ball a lot.. Hazard and Mata don't...

he fights and tackles back too - he is definitely not lightweight.

No one should even contemplate getting rid of him. he has only been 1 season in the league and has proved to be a really exciting prospect.

Moruinho has said some very complimentary things regarding our 3 magicians. He won't be moving any of them on.

It would be madness - they are some of the very best players in the world, are still very young and are still adapting to the league.

They are the future of CFC for the next 10 years.
