Apparently the Japanese are to blame for their addiction to Pokemon.
Following its launch on Dec. 25, Nintendo has taken the Pokemon Bank cloud storage app offline and removed it from the eShop in Japan following a strain on company servers, according to a notice on Nintendo of Japan's website.

Pokemon Bank was identified as the cause of a server crush that saw problems across Nintendo's online servers affecting both its 3DS and Wii U eShops. The notice states the problems are occurring across both platforms due to the recent linking of 3DS and Wii U online services, including Miiverse, through the Nintendo Network ID system.

As a result, Pokemon Bank has been removed from the eShop and Nintendo has not announced when the app will once again be available. The free 30-day trial period for new Pokemon Bank users will restart once the application is put back online.

I'm having trouble getting on there too. :(

I went on it last night to redeem a £25 eshop card my dad got me and after a while there was an error message. Today I've been checking back on the 3ds eshop and on Nintendo's site and there are still problems.

As I was typing I tried the eshop and after a while it seemed to be working, but the error code has come up again. >:(

Just tried the eshop again and within seconds the error message came up. It's getting ridiculous now and all thanks to Pokemon Bank - what a stupid time to launch it! >:(

I've just tried it again, and at this time it's still down! It's hardly peak hours!

The only thing I can thing of is that they were so unprepared for this kind of demand that their servers crashed and re-balancing the network will take some time.

I look forward to ther next Nintendo Direct with Iwata bowing down to apologize!

My sons 3DS is till showing error when trying to connect, he wants his Pokemon download.
I'm glad I'm at work today as otherwise I'd just be getting annoyed checking the WiiU every now and then.

You'll definitely need an external HDD cause I'd imagine ZombiU & AssassinsCreed will have pretty much filled ya internal storage!! :(

Yep it's on my list of things to get, just need to decide on which to get that's not going to be overly expensive.
Assasins Creed is 17GB and ZombieU is 5.6GB so still have a little room left.

Oh poo perhaps I don't have enough room after all :(
Had an installation error appear which said not enough room so deleted the queued download of ZombieU and it started to install again.
Just finished installing now and is now downloading Update Data (whatever that means)

Crisis averted and no hard drive needed just yet, just needed to do them seperatly.
I also had just enough room for Sonic Racing Demo too.
