No, I just can't this "drink drink drink" culture, in which sad little people think that having a good time is all about drinking alcohol. Posing in photographs with a drink in hand or photographing a dozens of your empty beer bottles doesn't make one cool.

These people are philistines that don't know anything about culture and respect. They would rather holiday consecutively in Ayia Napa etc, rather than experience the Amazon Jungle in Brazil or the scenery of South Africa.

Horrible people with no style or taste.

This reads like an actual Adrian Mole diary entry.

I think he has a point but just using extreme examples. I mean there are people like he mentioned, who think getting pissed is the be all and end all, however a great many drinkers (myself included are responsible). But sadly we do have a drinking problem in this country (I hate go go all Daily maily sorry) :o

I only used drink Red Bull in the student union. :o But I don't mind others having a beer. Good on the Muslim students for their 'not in my name' letter, as it must be very annoying that someone had put them in the situation where they felt they had to deny it.

You speak in the absolutes of a man trapped in a black and white mindset. This seems to me to be futher evidence of your lack of social experience.

I don't drink but I'm not going to criticise anyone who does. Not everyone who drinks is like you say they are, my friend likes to drink but he's also doing an English PhD. Is he a philistine who knows nothing about culture?

No, actually. It was in Ontario, Canada, where I combined leisure with exploration and learning.

Good. Hopefully that moronic PC tw*t will actually take notice of their concerns. It's great to see them standing up for the rights of non muslim students.

Oh that's so big of you. So you admit you were wrong when you said this:

"Well said Barrie. The Cons are scared, the Lib dems are in love with everything islamic, Labour are useless. I just wish that more people could WAKE UP and see that islamification is real and is happening now, this is just the latest in a long line of policy changes where muslims are being favoured over the rest of us."

    and this

"I'm glad you find it so funny. Back in the real world, there are those of us who can see that the government, educational authorities, local authorities, and schools are desperate to appease muslims, the prison service are appeasing islamists by allowing muslim gangs to control jails, halal meat is spreading across the entire public sector, we now have representative of the IFE in positions of local power, so no, it's not 'LOL' this time, it's 'Why should muslims be treated BETTER than the rest of us' - after all, we're supposed to be an EQUAL society."

    and this

"Ok. Let's take this University's decision a few steps further - how about alcohol gets banned for sale everywhere, after all, it's good to have alcohol free areas right? Why don't we also ban the sale of pork, after all, it's such a dirty meat isn't it? Oh and it shall be compulsory for everyone to wear muslim religious clothes, after all, we're such a decadent society, maybe a bit of enforced modesty would be a good idea?"

    and this

"That's one of the things that pisses me off most about islamists in this country. They're happy to use up our precious housing spaces, and claim money from working Brits, yet they claim to hate Britain. If they hate us that much then why don't they **** off? Actually, I know the answer to that one. They want to take over."

Bolded the last one just to highlight your venom.

I am in general agreement with Jackboy.

Quoted from the extract posted in post 2. "there has never been a demand for an alcohol ban on campus from Muslim or non-Muslim students."

There would be a demand for the banning of alcohol from the campus if I decided to study there. Teetotal societies should be formed in universities to campaign for campus-wide alcohol bans.

Maybe it's just me, but I had some of the most intelligent conversations I've ever had in the 'Union over a pint. Once you got outspoken Politics students from both ends of the political spectrum, Sociology students etc. etc. together with a little alcohol you couldn't stop them.

If you really think that way then I really feel for you, as you missed out on a lot. And I don't mean copiously drinking alcohol.

I'm glad you think it's venomous for me to want ALL people to be treated equally, instead of muslims being treated better than the rest of us. I'm glad you think it's venomous of me to think that those who preach hate against Britain don't deserve to get anything from this country. I'm glad you think it's venomous that I object to islam having a bigger and bigger influence on this country. It exposes how radical you really are. Typical of the left and their islamophile politics.

The authors of the letter make a lot more sense than the said professor not that that would be difficult.
yes, a fine and well written letter I thought. Some newspaper should offer the writer a job.
    Jackboy18 wrote: »

It's a city centre university. The student bar is only one of many drinking opportunities within half a mile.

I seriously doubt that the bar at London Met is full of champagne socialists. :D It is an inclusive place, whose most popular degree subjects are things like business studies and accountancy.

Their meddling and faux outrage usually causes the very problems and divisions they are "fighting" against (and often didn't exist in the first place).

YOu haven't actually read the letter, have you? The allegation being made is that the bar's lease is running out and the university saw a way to save some money by closing it rather than renewing it. No leftie views are necessary to explain this action.

Hmmm. I think you were caught out. You were not exactly careful in defining 'they' in your last statement to make sure that no one could mistake it for an attack on British muslims, were you?
