OP, why are you defending your position to the death? When you were asking advice, and every reply is consistent?
Nobody here has any reason to lie to you in unison.
Seriously, i would suggest getting yourself to the CAB (citizens advice bureaux), they wont lie to you either and are free. Ring up for an interview with them.
1. I don't know how you can say there are better deals, you don't know what my deal is.
3. If I have to I WILL go through "official channels", as you call it.
4. You should be careful with terms like "idiot" when you're spouting absolute sh1te yourself.
You're either paying £31 or £36pm for unl mins/texts & 1GB of data and then had to pay an upfront cost of something like £50 or £100. I'm guessing.
What i'm saying is you need to go through offiical channels within the first 14 days. Not at the end of your contract/when 4G launches.
I'm not spewing nonsense. The guys in the call centre don't have access to your recording. They have to request it from higher management if they need to listen to it.
I'm not the one in the wrong here. I've been promised a particular deal and maybe the guy knows something we don't. If not, I'll be looking for the situation to be recified. They can say no.
Are you kidding me? You were mis sold. The guy isn't your friend. LIke i said you need to rectify this now, not later. P4U will do everything they can to stop you cancelling via their CS. Even by denying the call was recorded.
If you want an iPhone that works on 4G i strongly suggest suggest going through EE or Three. They are both much better networks than O2 coverage wise and EE are in a great position with 4G already and Three will be in a great position with their unlimited data at no extra cost proposition.
Why are you making life harder for yourself by waiting to get the problem sorted? You could cancel the existing contract and move to EE and have a phone with 4G now - as you said you wanted it, so why wait?
My preference is to remain with O2. That's what I was offered and that's the deal I've accepted.

More fool you then. I can pretty much guarantee you won't have a leg to stand on when O2 launch their 4G offering - which will take ages to reach EE's coverage levels by the way!

Nope, none of those deals are remotely like the one I accepted. The one I accepted was a "free" handset at £42 per month for unlimited calls, unlimited texts and 2GB of data.
I never said the operator had access to listen to the recordings.
You said I had received a recorded message! And I never said they did. I'm willing to bet though that they keep all recording for AT LEAST the duration of the contract.
Are you refuting the "recorded message" bit that i said? It might not have been recorded, but they typically contain the same kind of things.
I bet messages aren't kept for AT LEAST the duration of the contract, because a verbal contract means bugger all.

Well then that's a crap deal and standard price. Good luck paying any less than £50pm when 4G rolls around and you have to pay to upgrade the handset and sign up for an additional 24 months.

I did ask for advice, but a lot of it has been somewhat speculative and uninformed, so I've been responding to that. What's the problem with that?

Oh dear. Is that for 2 years? Thats an extra £144 for the duration and its not even unlimited data which is pretty must necessary for 4G. Why are you even bothered about 4G with a 2GB data limit?

I don't mind paying £50 a month for that and I don't mind signing up for an additional 24 months, but I won't be paying to upgrade the handset.

Nobody offers unlimited data for 4G! EE typically offers 3GB.
Nobody offers unlimited data for 4G! EE typically offers 3GB.
Three Offer unlimited data from £34pm on 4G handsets.
EE offer 3GB data for £46pm (£3pm more) and the handset is included. But with o2 you'd have to get a new handset and THAT WILL cost you and then pay a premium for 4G on your monthly contract, and then sign up for another 24 months.
The advice you've received here is 100% correct from the others. I don't see how you won't realise you've been mis sold and you need to correct it now otherwise you're screwed. You can't get 4G on the iPhone 5 on O2. Not now, not ever.

I think "screwed" is a bit dramatic. And saying there's to be no O2 4G on iPhone 5 is premature.
You will not be able to upgrade to an O2 4G handset without paying. You are either naive or stupid
Pretty much this.
This is why i hate phones 4 u, they treat customers like crap. They pray on the naive and just force people to sign up to a deal by spewing all amounts of crap. Then denying they ever gave out mis-information.

No, that's not premature. It's physically impossible. It can't happen. That's like saying the sun and the moon will swap places in the next 2 seconds. Not going to happen mate. The iPhone 5 does not support the 4G frequencies that O2 or Vodafone use.
Are you trolling now or are you being geniune? Seriously, contact p4u and say you were mis sold
Edit: There are actually call centre workers in this forum too btw.
I'm not sure about the legislation. There have been some outlandish claims though regarding how call centres work in this regard. One or 2 people have cited direct experience though and agreed with me.

Yes. I'm perfectly happy to pay £1.50 per day for an iPhone 5. It's about the price of a cup of coffee.
The advice here has not been uninformed. People know what they are talking about.

The handset is good and not up for debate. Its your contract that we think you've been diddled on with the fact your wanted 4G on it, which you CANT!
Which legislation are people not aware off then?
I might have research to do myself here
Edit: There are actually call centre workers in this forum too btw.

I don't recall making any such claim.
The price IS the contact. So if I'm willing to pay £1.50 per day what's the point of you telling me the handset it good?
