Sliding doors moment

Rather than talk of regret, have you had a life altering moment where there did appear an option discussed, considered or taken that sent you along a path, which may have created or transpired completely differently had you gone the other way.

Easy to say you'd never know, but we surely all get this occur once in a lifetime?

    I always worry sliding doors are going to reject me. I'm not sure if people would find that more or less embarrassing than the fact that I mutter "open, you door" to them as I approach.
