IBS; do I have it, what does it feel like?

Hi everyone,
As per the thread title. I have Googled and looked on NHS etc but it would be helpful for any sufferers to tell me what exactly it feels like.
For the last few days I havent been digesting at all well; anything I've eaten has pretty much passed straight through me and quite uncomfortably so, although it's not diaohrea. I just get cramps which are quite similar to period cramps across my lower abdomen, then have to go to the loo.
I am also anaemic and I see that IBS + anaemia can point to a stomach ulcer.
Can anyone tell me if what I'm experiencing sounds familiar as a symptom of IBS? Thanks and sorry for oversharing.

Hope you feel better soon the cramping can be horrible. It sounds like IBS but usually you would have it over a long period of time a few days could just be a bug or food poisioning. Only your GP can give you a diagnosis. My cousin has bad flare ups of IBS and she can have days where she is pretty much incontinent with her bowel and constantly going to the toilet. In the meantime you could go to the pharmacy and ask for Buscopan for the cramping if it is causing you a lot of pain or discomfort. I take that everyday because of the problems I have with cramping. Best wishes to you.
If you haven't already, get yourself to your GP. They can obviously do all sorts of tests to diagnose exactly what is happening with you.
Hopefully it's just a bit of a tummy bug, but your GP will know for sure!
It's difficult to tell you what it feels like because it's different for everyone.
There are lots of other things that could be causing your problems. If you're anaemic as well, then it is extra important that you go to the GP and talk over your symptoms so he/she can order any tests that might be required.
Don't just assume that it's IBS and leave it ....
I agree with the above. Sounds to me more likely a gastro virus, unless you have a history of these issues. I was misdiagnosed with IBS, amidst other things, for years.. I had coeliacs and pernicious anemia.
Ultimately, you should head to the docs and see what's up. As mentioned above, IBS and such disorders often manifest in various ways, maybe some 'standard' symptoms, but you'll find variance amongst people.
Of course I will seek professional medical advice, but I was just hoping people could help to 'humanise' it a bit for me if they'd experienced it too.
My IBS starts with pain round my back coming round to the frontlike a contraction , bad wind and bloating. I take colpermin which is peppermint based and it helps.
That wasn't my experience unfortunately, I was misdiagnosed straight away as having IBS without testing for much else.
Unfortunately it was 15 years of mis-diagnoses when I actually had gallbladder disease.
In my experience and that of my friends, it tends to be the blanket diagnoses when doctors can't be bothered to find out the exact cause.
Sorry, I probably should have said IBS SHOULD be a diagnosis of exclusion! I think it's probably an lazy diagnosis much of the time...
